A Day In The Life (Saturday)

As a continuation of my blog post about our day on Friday, I thought it would be fun to continue on into the weekend.  Again, our weekends are much different than our weekdays.

Shawn woke up around 6:30 this morning.  He's always up early, whether it's a weekend or not.  He's just an early bird.  I am not.  Usually he takes care of Em in the mornings and lets me sleep in.  I'm so used to getting up early on the weekdays, that sleeping in is now around 8:00.  This morning though, I was up around 7:45 and Em wasn't even up yet.

I went downstairs to eat breakfast and Shawn ran out to run a few quick errands.  Em finally woke up around 8:15.  She started calling for Mama.  Usually, she starts calling for Dada, but today it was me which was good because I was the only one home.  Her first question to me each morning is "where is dada," to which I reply "he went bye bye."  She seemed happy when she first woke up, but she did give me some hints that she was still tired.

She insists on bringing her blanky and baby with her to the changing table when she first wakes up.

After a quick diaper change, we came downstairs to play and eat some breakfast while we waited for Daddy to return.  This is when I realized Em was more tired than she let on.  She was already starting the day off fussy and just not wanting to listen.

We built a tower with her blocks.

Then the wrecking crew came by and knocked it down.

She enjoyed her waffles for breakfast.

After breakfast, Shawn played with Em so I could get ready.

Then we got Em dressed.

Around 9:45 we headed out the door to run errands.  We went to a decorating store and Pier 1.  We were on the search for patio furniture.  I had scoped out Pier 1 last week and found some chairs I liked, but wanted to take Shawn back to see if he liked them.  He did, so we ended up getting 2 chairs along with a small mosaic side table.  They were out of the cushions we wanted, so they called another store and put them on hold for us.  By this point, Em was getting very uncooperative, so I'm glad we found furniture so quickly.  We still needed to make a stop by Mimi and Papa's house to pick up a ladder though.  We bought a new chandelier for our dining room and we needed a taller ladder than we owned.  My Dad has a wide selection of ladders, so we stopped by to get his tallest one.  After visiting for a few minutes, we headed home to give Em lunch and put her down for a nap.

The first time I tried to take her picture, she quickly turned her head.  That's the kind of mood she was in.

But luckily, she came around.

We got to our first stop a few minutes before they opened, so we let Em drive the car while we waited.

Here we are with our new purchase and the really tall ladder.

After enjoying leftovers for lunch, Em easily went down for a nap and I ran out to the other Pier 1 store to get the cushions.  Shawn relaxed for a little bit and started taking down the old chandelier while Em was napping.  When I got home, I was able to catch up on my blogging and then relax a little too.  Em ended up taking almost a 3 hour nap.  She was definitely tired!  I was glad to see her in a much happier mood when I went in to get her.

Finally getting rid of the gold chandelier.

Wow, Daddy is way up there.

Upon her waking up from her nap, we headed down to Arlington to have dinner with Shawn's Grannie and brother.  Em enjoyed swinging on Grannie's backyard swing with her cousins Mason and Myles.

Another hot day!!

We headed home around 7:00 and arrived back at our house before 8:00.  It was tubby time and bedtime for Emily.  I was craving something sweet so Shawn ran out and got us McDonalds Mcflurry's and we sat outside in our new patio chairs to enjoy them.
