April Little Things

April has been a super busy month for us!  And it doesn't look like it's going to slow down any time soon.

We bought some flowers and Shawn worked really hard to get the flower beds cleaned out in the front and back yards.  I forgot to mention this last month, but we also started a vegetable garden. Just as things were starting to grow, we got a huge hail storm.  :(  We're hoping it will all come back.

Evan is still taking swim lessons.  One week they practiced boat safety.  Swim lessons for the most part have been much better, however, there was 1 week they had a sub and Evan melted down.  He can now swim about 10 feet unassisted.  He's still very hesitant to jump in off the side of the pool though.  He will be continuing lessons into the summer as well.

We went to Kevin and Julie's house for dinner one night and Evan enjoyed "fishing" in their new pool.  He can't wait until summer and he can swim in it too.

Emily finished up her faith formation classes at church this month.  Her class was bright and early on Sundays (8:30!).  She'll have a break now until school starts in the fall.  Here she is all ready to go one Sunday morning.

Shawn jetted off to Florida for 4 days for a work conference.  While he was gone we got a terrible hail storm.  Bad weather always seems to happen when he's gone.  He laughed at me when I sent him a picture comparing the size of the hail to the remote control.  Hey, it was the only thing laying around to grab.

Emily had another girl scouts meeting.  This time they met in the park and went on a nature scavenger hunt.

I just love getting random pictures of Evan during his day at school.  Only about 6 more weeks of school until "summer camp" starts.  I think we're both ready to be done with uniforms for a while.

Shawn went on his annual guys trip.  Normally they go canoeing, but with all the rain we've had, the river was too high.  So they went camping instead and rented a boat one day on Possum Kingdom.

And while Daddy was away, it was just me and the kids at home. . which means we may just have cereal for dinner some nights.  :)

Emily had her school carnival and Evan had his spring fling.  We attended both, but I only took pics at the spring fling.

One Sunday afternoon, we spent lots of time outside enjoying the nice weather and the kids had a ball with water balloons.

The End of Spring Soccer Season

Emily finished up another great season of soccer with the Doodlebugs.  It's been so much fun getting to know all the girls on her team.  She's already said that she wants to do soccer again in the Fall.

Conversations With Emily

I was helping Emily with her homework the other night:

Emily: "Did they have erasers back in the 80's?"
Me: "Um yes, Em.  How old do you think I am?"

2016 Bluebonnet Pictures

Once again, it's that time of year where parents drag their kids out to take the annual bluebonnet pics. The kids dread them, but I love them!  :)   They were out early this year after such a mild winter.
