Random Ramblings

 - Shawn and Em went to a Roughriders game last night with Shawn's brother and his 2 boys.

 - I finally updated all the pictures in our picture frames throughout the house.  I've been needing to do this for a while now! Now I just need to start printing the hundreds of pictures that I've taken from 2012 for our photo albums.  Yes, I'm still one of those people that prints all our pics out.  I love to be able to look at them in hard copies, instead of just the computer.

 - Lately, Emily has started making up songs about everything she's doing. . .brushing teeth, playing ball, etc.  This cracks me up.

 - I'm super excited about the Olympics starting!  Is anyone else?  And even more excited that it fell during my maternity leave.  Finally something worth watching during the day!  My parents just got back from Europe and during a stop in London they picked up London 2012 Olympic t-shirts for all of us.

 - Em told me the other day that she wants to be a ballerina when she grows up.

 - Since we started Evan on this, he's been much better.  Although, he's still having spurts where you can tell he's just uncomfortable (ie. arching his back, getting real stiff, crying while eating, etc).  I'm hoping he's still getting the other formula out of his system.  If it continues, I'll be calling the dr. next week.  The downside of this formula is that is smells terrible (that's one thing I remember from when Em was on it).  And from what I've read, apparently it doesn't taste so good either.  I think Evan feels that way because the last few days, his appetite has decreased.  Several bottles a day, he'll only drink 2 oz.  Normally, he was drinking between 3 and 4 oz. But if it makes his tummy feel better, that's more important than the taste.  Also, unfortunately for us, neither this formula, nor the zantac elminates his spitting up.  I feel like I end up changing his outfit or my outfit at least once a day.  No fun!

 - Em has been having some potty accidents at school lately.  At first, we thought maybe it was due to Evan arriving, but now her teachers are convinced it's just because she wants to change clothes during the day. So I made a deal with her, that if she would stay in the same clothes all week at school (and hence no accidents), I would take her to the dollar store and she could pick out a few things.  That's all it took and no more changing clothes at school!  So off we went to the dollar store.  Em could have stayed forever!  She got to pick out 3 things she wanted to buy.  It ended up being a fun Mommy/daughter shopping date!

All ready to go, with money in her purse.

- Yesterday, Em came up to me while I was holding Evan and gave me a kiss.  I said to her "that just made my day, Em."  To which she responded, "No Mommy, that just made my day."  Love my sweet girl!

 - And probably our most exciting news. . .we booked a trip for next month to go visit my best friend, Stephanie in CA!  We're being spontaneous for once and decided to take a trip out there before I go back to work in September.  This will double as a work trip for Shawn, so he won't have to use vacation time (and his flight will be paid for - SCORE!).  I'm super excited.  Hopefully, both kids will cooperate for us on the plane!

Bumbo Fun

Evan is getting pretty good at holding his head up, so I thought we would try out the bumbo.  I only put him in it for about a minute, but he really seemed to like it.  Hopefully, we'll be able to increase his time in it over the next couple months as his neck gets even stronger.

Evan loves to sit up.  He prefers to be held upright over laying down.

Love this sweet boy!!

Someone found the fan.

Is that a little smile?

Okay mom, I've had enough.  My neck is tired.  Time to get out.

Almost Wordless Wednesday

Take Your Child To Work

Yesterday, Shawn's company had a "take your child to work" day.  Shawn wasn't quite brave enough to take Evan up to work, but he did take Em.  Of course, I sent him with the camera to take pictures of their day.

They started their day in Shawn's office eating breakfast and doing some coloring.

After a presentation by the president of their company, the kids split into groups based on age and went around to each department in the building.  Each group had a fun activity for the kids based on what their specific job was.  For example, the compliance department fingerprinted all the kids and the IT department had built a "computer" out of a box and taught the kids about viruses using black balls and yellow happy face balls.  If the kids could pull a black "virus" ball out of the computer, they got to pick a prize.

Here's Em getting fingerprinted.

Meeting some of Daddy's friends

There were more activities planned in the afternoon, but since Em would need a nap and had dance in the afternoon, they headed home right after lunch.

It sounded like both Emily and Shawn had lots of fun at work.

Following In His Sister's Footsteps

Unfortunately for us, our happy, content baby has turned into quite the fussy boy the last few days.  Monday morning he spent so much time crying and just uncomfortable that I ended up calling the dr's office.  They went ahead and called in a prescription for zantac for him.  I was hoping that's all we would need to help with his tummy issues, but it doesn't look like that's the case.  Last night he cried almost non-stop from 5-8 and then cried the majority of today as well.  You can just tell he is extremely uncomfortable.  He arches his back and has a ton of gas.  So I decided it's time to try the Nutramigen.  I looked back at my blog posts and it was right around 6 weeks that all of Em's tummy issues started too.  This formula worked wonders for Em, so I'm hoping it will help Evan with his issues too!!

Emily and Evan

It seems like each day I end up taking a few pics of Evan on my phone.  When I was looking at the ones I took yesterday, I was immediately reminded of some pics I took when Em was a baby.  It's still so crazy to me just how much Evan and Em look alike.  I love both of these pics of my wide eyed, bald babies.

First Real Smile

After a rough night of little sleep, Evan thanked me by giving me his first real smile this morning.  I was so excited and it totally made my day!!

Big Sister/Little Brother

My friend Courtney gave Evan and Emily these cute shirts and I couldn't resist taking a few pictures of the kids in them.  (Btw, it's still feels so weird for me to write/say kids :) ).

Weekend Recap

We had a busy weekend with lots of friends!!  A few weeks ago, Shawn and I realized we hadn't seen several of his close friends in a while.  It seems these days, that it takes a birthday, wedding, etc for everyone to get together.  We asked ourselves why can't we all just get together for no reason but to catch up with everyone.  So that's exactly what we decided to do on Saturday.  We invited several of Shawn's friends and their families over to our house for a BBQ.  We had a great turnout.  Almost everyone was able to come.  I think we ended up having 10 adults and 9 kids at our house.  Even with it being the hottest day of the year (106, I believe), we still ended up having a great time.  Shawn grilled out fajitas and we all just enjoyed visiting.  The kids had a ton of fun playing togther!  Unfortunately, we didn't take a lot of pics.  Instead we were just enjoying all our friends.

Most of the kids

The 3 girls (Mia, Em and Aubrey) had lots of fun dressing up.  I missed getting Mia in the pic, but here are Aubrey and Em.

Sunday, Em had another fun day with a friend.  I had made a playdate with my friend/co-worker Michele and her daughter, Haleigh.  They came over around 10 and the girls had a blast playing outside on the swingset, dressing up, and playing with the kitchen.  Haleigh is 2 years older than Em and yet, the girls still play so well together.  Em started to get pretty grumpy around lunchtime and unfortunately the playdate had to end.  I think the busy day before had finally caught up to Em and she was in desperate need of a nap.  However, Em had such a fun time and we can't wait to have another playdate soon!

Birth Announcement

I finally got Evan's announcements sent out and so I wanted to share them.

Also, I realized I never put a picture of Em's announcement on my blog after she arrived.  Just so I have that in my blog book, here's a picture of Em's.

Evan's Nursery

I know I'm a bit behind on posting these.  Having been on bed rest, I was a little late in getting his room completely done.  Even now, I still need more stuff for his hutch.  But for the most part, it's done.

And I can't do this post without a pic of my little man.  Here he is testing out his new travel swing.  We ended up having to replace our bouncer seat after we realized the batteries had corroded in it.  Note to self. . .don't store items for 2 years with the batteries still in them.
