William and Jenny's Wedding - Flower Girl Round 2

Em was quite the popular little girl this summer.  Not only was she asked to be a flower girl in her Uncle Scott's wedding, but her Godfather, William, also asked her to be a flower girl in his wedding.  The wedding was this weekend and Em was very excited.  Jenny brought by her dress and a basket full of flower petals for her a couple of weeks ago.  Em didn't get to throw petals at her Uncle's wedding, so she was a little nervous about how this would work, so we let her practice at home a couple of times.

The rehearsal was on Friday night and Em did great.  She was a little shy at first, but still had no problem walking down the very long aisle!  The rehearsal dinner was right afterwards and one of the waitresses at the restaurant was one of Em's old teachers.  She hasn't seen Em in a couple years, but totally recognized her.  It was fun to catch up with her.  We enjoyed dinner and getting to chat with everyone.  Em especially took a liking to her Uncle Fred, William's Dad.

The wedding was at 2:00 on Saturday afternoon which meant Em got no nap.  I was a little worried with how she would hold up after being out late the night before, but she did great.  As soon as she put on that flower girl dress, I could tell she felt like a princess and she was so excited.  Once again, Em did great going down the aisle.  The service was a full mass which meant it was long.  And Em had to sit with the bridesmaids during it, not me.  I was so proud of how well she did and was great at remembering when she had to sit and stand.  Of course the bridesmaids were all so sweet to her and helped her out.  Several people complemented her on how well she did.   I failed miserably when it came to taking pictures the day of the wedding, but at least I got a couple!  I'm hoping Willy and Jenny's photographer got some good ones of Em.

After the ceremony we headed over to the reception.  This is where Em started to get a little bored.  She didn't know as many people at this wedding, compared to her Uncle Scott's and she was a bit more shy.  She wouldn't get off the dance floor at Uncle Scott's wedding, but at this one we couldn't get her to dance at all.  I think she wished there were other kids there that she knew.  By 7:30 or so, the day started to catch up to her, so Em and I headed home and Shawn stayed to visit more with his family.

On the way home, Em asked if she would get to be a flower girl in every wedding.  I had to laugh and tell her that she's very lucky to have been asked to be a flower girl in two weddings.  Some little girls never get to be a flower girl.

Just like the last wedding, Evan stayed home both nights.  Friday night my cousin, Katie, watched him and Shawn's Dad watched him on Saturday.  He did join us for the brunch on Sunday though.

Evan's First Day in Early Preschool 2 (EPS2)

Today was Evan's first day of school in the Early Preschool 2 (EPS 2) room.  There aren't a whole lot of changes that come with this room.  The main ones are that they really focus a lot on potty training and they get to move up to a bigger playground.  This is also the last year that he won't have to wear a uniform.  Most of his close friends moved up with him, so I'm hoping it won't be too much of an adjustment for him.  His teachers this year are Ms. Katrina, Ms. Sheila and Ms. Patrice.

Em's First Day of Pre-K 2

Em's first day of Pre-K 2 also means it's her last year of school at Primrose!  As I've seen all of the Kindergarten posts floating around, I can't help but be glad I still have one more year before that happens. This Mama is totally not ready to have a child in Kindergarten just yet.  I am excited about another new school year though.  I love seeing how much Em learns and just how much fun she has throughout the year.  This year she has even more to look forward to because one of her best friends, Aubrey, will be in her class.  She's so excited about that!  A couple of her other close friends from school are in the private Kindergarten class instead of Pre-K 2 which I know Em will be sad about, but I know she'll still have great year.  She was not excited about uniforms starting up again, but I keep reminding her this is the last year of them.  I know I'll probably miss them at some point.

Home Makeover

We've been wanting to get hardwood floors in our house for quite some time.  Since we have had kids the carpet has just gotten so dirty with stuff being spilled on it and after getting it professionally cleaned time and time again, it was just on it's last leg!  We finally decided it was time to pull the trigger and just do it.  Once we got the hardwood done, we realized we would need to have painters out to paint the extra piece of molding they put down when they removed the carpet.  Since they were coming out, we decided to have them paint a few of our other rooms too.  Both Shawn and I were over all the colors we put in our house 6 years ago and decided it was time to go a little more neutral.  Several of you have asked to see the final product so here goes.

Here are the before pics (take a couple years ago). . .

And here are the after pics. . .
We took the leaf out of the dining room table and the furniture fits so much better in the room!  I'm in search of a new runner for the table though.

We're really happy with how everything turned out.  I love how the off white lightens up the front rooms and almost makes the rooms look bigger.

And here's 1 last look at the before and after, side by side.

This was our first major house project since we did the backyard several years ago.   We still have a to do list a mile long, but it was nice to get another one crossed off the list!

Em's Cheerleading Pep Rally

We signed Em up for the summer cheer class at school again.  Tonight was her pep rally to show off what they have learned.  She did awesome.  She was front and center and did a great job of remembering all her cheers and dances.   She can't wait to do cheerleading again next summer.
