Tummy Time

Evan's been spending a few times each day doing tummy time.  He's getting so strong!  :)  Love my little man!

And here's a happy gram Emily got from school a couple of weeks ago.  I totally forgot to post it.  It makes me smile!

Week 2 Outings

We made it through our second week at home.  I've been much more adventurous with Evan than I was with Emily at this age.  I think this being my second baby, I'm just much more comfortable being around an infant and leaving the house.  At the end of last week, we ventured out to the mall and to the grocery store.  On Monday, me and Evan went and visited my Aunt Ann.  Tuesday, I took on both kids!  Me and Evan picked Em up early from school and headed to dance class.  Thankfully, Evan slept the whole time Em was in her class.

This afternoon, I took Evan over to Dr G's for his 2 week checkup.  He was very cooperative for me.  Here are his stats:

Weight - 8 lbs, 5 oz (25-50%)
Height - 20.3 in (50%)
Head - 14.5 in (didn't get a %)

Dr. G was very happy with his weight gain.  Everything else looked great too. No shots this trip, he'll get one at his 1 month appt.  Now we just need to schedule a time at the hospital to get his second PKU screen done.

Newborn Photo's (Sneak Peek)

We had our photographer come last Friday to take Evan's newborn pics.  She sent me 1 pic as a sneak preview.  I love it, so I just had to share!  I can't wait to see the rest of them.  We should get them within the next week or 2.

1 Week Old

I can't believe Evan is already a week old!  Time really does fly by when you have kids.

Here's what's happening with Evan at 1 week -

 - He eats about 2 - 2.5 oz. every 1.5-3 hours.  Usually it's closer to around 2 hours.  I'm hoping he's finally putting on some weight now.

- He wears size newborn diapers and clothes are either newborn or preemie.

 - He still has his nights and days messed up.  He sleeps well during the day, but not so good at night.  He will fall asleep in my arms, but as soon as I put him in his cradle he wakes up.  This makes for some long nights for his mama.  :(

 - He loves to be held and snuggle.

 - For now, he likes riding in the car.

 - He loves the swing (just like his sister did).  He usually takes his longest naps either in the swing or snuggled on his boppy.

Uncle Scott came to meet Evan

Just enjoying more time with my kiddos

My Little Ballerina

I've been looking forward to this day ever since I found out we were having a little girl!  This past Tuesday was Em's first dance class.  I signed her up for a 2-3 year old class at a dance studio, for the summer. (I'm taking advantage of having my maternity leave fall during the summer.)  Em's friend, Aubrey, also signed up for the same class.  When I first told Em I signed her up with Aubrey she was soooo excited!  I told her the same day I brought home her dance clothes.  She immediately wanted to try them on and didn't want to take them off.  I was just so glad to see her as excited as I was!  I know I'm biased, but how cute does she look in her little leotard and ballet shoes?!

Her class is huge! I want to say maybe 15 or so 2-3 year olds! Unfortunately, the mom's don't get to sit in the class and watch. Instead, we watch them on tv's in the lobby. With 15 little girls all in pink and black, it made it a little bit difficult to figure out which one was Em. But when I could see her, she did great! She seemed to do great at listening to her teachers. She also loved to take her shoes and skirt off too. :) Emily seemed to love the class! If she continues to love it, I'll probably plan on signing her up in the fall too. Maybe those classes won't be so big.

Evan's First Bath

We gave Evan his first tub last night.  Yes, it took us almost a week to give him one (guess that's part of being a second child).  He got a sponge bath since his cord is still attached (it fell off this morning).  Emily was a big helper and helped Shawn give him a tub.  Evan wasn't too thrilled about his first tub.  His sister didn't like her first bath either, but she loves tubby time now, so I'm not too worried.

Even though I look exhuasted, I couldn't resist posting a pic of me with my 2 favorite snuggle bugs fresh after their tubbies.

Our First Weekend As A Family Of 4

Considering we just had a baby this week, we still had a pretty busy weekend.  We started bright and early Saturday morning with a trip over to Dr. G's office.  Dr. G wanted to see Evan to get a weight check and a jaundice check.  Since we had to bring him in, we went ahead and made an appt. for Em too.  Her ezcema has been pretty bad lately and we wanted to see if he had any new suggestions for us.  Our appt. was at 8:50 and I think we pulled out of our driveway at 8:43.  Good thing his office is literally 1 minute away from us.  It was definitely tougher getting out of the house as a family of 4.  Evan's checkup went pretty well.  He was down to 7 lbs, 2 oz.  When we left the hospital he was down to 7 lbs, 4 oz.  So he still lost a little bit.  We're still working on figuring out the breastfeeding, but hopefully we'll have him gaining weight soon.  He was quite a bit more jaundice than when we left the hospital as well.  His bilirubin level was up to 14.3.  They want it to stay below 15 -17, but it's not until it reaches 20 that they really worry.  We're just planning a few days of sunbathing for Evan.  Em's appt. went well.  Dr. G said we can go ahead and give her allergy medicine each day and see if that will help with her ezcema.  We also got a new steroid cream for her.  Hopefully this will help with her dry, itchy skin!

After we got back from the dr.'s office, Shawn and Em headed out to go to their second swim lesson.  I enjoyed my quiet time just hanging out with Evan.

This is what she did when we asked her to take her picture.

But she got excited when we asked her to twirl.

After Em's nap, we surprised her with another big sister gift. . .a water table for the backyard.  She loved it!  Shawn took her outside to play with it and I think they were out there for a couple hours (I might have drifted off to sleep while they were).

Notice her anklets.  We have no idea where she got the idea, but this is her new favorite way to wear her silly bands.

Sunday morning, Shawn and Em met Shawn's dad at Fuzzy Taco's for breakfast.  Me and Evan had planned to go, but after a rough night with little sleep, I decided I needed a nap instead.  After Em's nap, we headed over to my parents house for dinner.  It was nice getting out, although it took about 45 minutes longer than we expected to actually get out of the house.  :)

Happy Father's Day

To the new daddy of 2!!

First Few Days At Home

We've survived our first few days at home.  We're trying to get into our "new normal" right now.  It's helped so much that Shawn has taken off for a few days and Em is still in school.  It's nice having some bonding time with just Evan.

The best gift ever!  My company sent over a ton of food from Central Market.  Enough to feed all of us for 3 days!  The pretty flowers are from my parents.

Em has been so great with him.  She wants to be a big helper and doesn't like it when her baby brother cries.  She loves to give him kisses.  If only he was big enough to play with her.  She still cracks me up with the things she says. I was feeding Evan and Em says:

"mommy, what are you doing"
"I'm feeding your brother"
"He's eating your elbow?"
"Yep"  :)

I figured I got off pretty easy with that one.  :)  Hopefully her questions end there.

Evan and I are still trying to figure out our night time routine.  He just wants to eat every hour, which makes it hard to get any sleep.  I need to figure out how to get him to quit snacking and eat meals instead.  Hopefully we'll get in figured out sooner rather than later.

Overall, except for him being fussy when he's hungry (always worse at night), so far, he's been a fairly easy little guy.  Hopefully I didn't just jinx myself!

I do have to say, as tough as it is at night when I'm not getting any sleep, I forgot how much I missed having a baby in the house.  I'm soaking up all the snuggle time I can get with him because I know how quickly the time goes by.  I'm loving our new family of 4!!
