January
We enjoyed a much quieter January after the busyness of the holidays. We were able to enjoy lots of nice weather. Shawn got to tour the TX Whiskey distillery and Emily's artwork got selected for the district art show.
February
In February, the kids celebrated Valentine's Day at school. Both kids also started their spring season of soccer. Shawn came down with the flu and celebrated his 39th birthday. At the end of the month, we surprised the kids with the news that we'd be going to Disney World for spring break.
March
In March we took the kids to Disney World for Spring break. It was my favorite family trip to date. The memories we made will last forever! Shawn and I also celebrated our 9th anniversary. We started renovations on our master bathroom.
April
I took the kids to take their annual bluebonnet pictures and we celebrated Easter. We registered Evan for Kindergarten in the Fall. Emily was having a great year in first grade. She got an AMP award at school and was the star student in Alphabest. Shawn took the kids to their last Primrose Spring Fling. We also had a fun outing at the Roughriders game and the zoo. Soccer finished up which gave us some time to do other fun activities.
May
Our bathroom renovation was finally complete and we couldn't be happier! Emily finally learned to ride a bike without training wheels and competed in another WOGA meet. At the end of the month, Evan graduated from Pre-K at Primrose and we went camping with the cousins at Lake Texoma.
June
School wrapped up for both kids and we said farewell to our time at Primrose. The kids kicked off their awesome summer at home with Cameron. They went on a ton of fun outings each day and Emily went to soccer camp for a week. Emily bridged to brownies in Girl Scouts. Evan turned 5 and we celebrated with a party with his friends at Obstacle Warrior Kids and a family outing to Hawaiian Falls.
July
Shawn bid farewell to his Jetta and went back to a truck. We celebrated 4th of July with family before heading to Austin for a long weekend getaway. Shawn and I enjoyed a couple of rare date nights. The kids continued to have a fun summer and we went to another Roughrider's game where Emily got to go down on the field and tell a joke.
August
We said goodbye to summer, but not before several more fun outings with Cameron. Shawn took both kids to work with him one day and Emily went on her very first sleepover. Soccer started back up for both kids and this season, Evan also tried out T-ball. At the end of the month both kids started school . . .Emily in 2nd and Evan in Kindergarten.
September
T-Ball and Soccer games kept us super busy the month of September. Shawn and Emily were supposed to go hunting over Labor Day weekend, but with a gas shortage in the area, they had to cancel last minute. Evan got to go to Build A Bear for the first time and Shawn went to the Cowboys/ Giants game.
October
As usual, October was another busy month full of lots of Fall activities. We took the kids to the State Fair for the very first time and they loved it. Emily turned 8 and while we didn't have her party until November, we celebrated as a family in October. For her birthday, we redecorated her room. We took our annual trip to the Pumpkin Patch and counted down with our countdown calendar. Evan got to go on his first field trip in Kindergarten. Both kids wrapped up soccer for the season. We ended the month going trick or treating with friends.
November
Just like October, November was jam packed as well. Evan finished up T-ball at the beginning of the month. Emily finally got to have her birthday party with friends. Evan and Shawn stayed the night at a hotel during the party. We made our annual trip to the Gaylord Texan to see Santa and all the Christmas decorations. We ended the month celebrating Thanksgiving in Broken Bow, OK with Shawn's family.
December
As usual, December was really busy with lots of fun holiday activities. We kicked off the month checking out Enchant with the Gists. KK took the kids to eat breakfast with Santa too. We welcomed our elf, Buddy, back with his annual North Pole Breakfast. We took the kids to I fly and did an abridged version of our Advent calendar. We finished the month celebrating Christmas with all the grandparents and were super excited to see what Santa brought them.
Whew, it's been a busy year! I know 2018 will be just as busy. We're already looking forward to the fun trip we have planned over Spring Break. Hopefully we might be able to squeeze in some other trips as well.
