August Little Things

It's been so incredibly hot here.  I'm talking 105 degrees + each day for the last several weeks.  It's miserable. We've also been soo busy with school starting and all the sports starting.  I know I'll miss this busy-ness at some point, but right now, I could really use a quiet weekend!

Shawn and Evan went to a Roughriders game with Scott and Myles the Friday before school started.

Emily played in the Sports Classic Tourney with her soccer team.  This was the FDL tourney.  They played really tough teams (ie. ECNL, ECRL, FDL).  They made it to the semis, but lost.  Finished with 2 ties and 2 losses.

The following weekend, Em played in the Summer Splash tourney.  This was the GCL tourney.  They played 5 games in 2 days (in 105 degree + weather).  They lost by 1 goal in the final to walk away with a 2nd place finish.

Emily had volleyball tryouts at school.  She made the "A" team and they had their first 2 games.  The first one went to 3 sets and they lost by just 3 points to Roach.  The second game they easily beat Fowler in 2 sets.

Evan started violin at school.  He's really enjoying it.

Hockey kicked off for Evan, with his team's leveling tourney.  They lost all 3 games, but that isn't a bad thing because now they will get in an easier bracket for league games.

First Day of 8th Grade

Em started her last year at Vandeventer today.  She's an 8th grader that "rules the school" now.

First Day of 6th Grade

Evan is officially a middle schooler!  He started 6th grade at Vandeventer today.  I think it's going to be nice having both kids back at the same school.  He's most excited about starting orchestra.  He's going to be playing the violin.

July Little Things

Here are all the little things we were up to in July:

I found Evan asleep on the couch when I got home from work 1 day.  Summertime sure is rough!

Em had some friends over on a Friday night for pizza and a pool party.

Evan and Shawn met his brother up at the gun range 1 afternoon.

Em also went to a friend's birthday pool party.

I started taking the kids up to the track at night to walk/ run.  Em needed to start getting back in shape for soccer.

We had Shawn's friends over for a pool party.

William and Jenny came up for a weekend to hang out.  The cousins had a blast together.

Em's soccer team kicked off the new season with a team building event at Group Dynamix.

Em had a full week of soccer fitness camp.
