Only a few more weeks to go!

It's been a busy week for us so far.  Yesterday, my co-workers threw me and Shawn a baby shower for Emily.  We got lots of good stuff!  We got her high chair, jumperoo, monitor, bottles, toys, travel bed, and lots of cute clothes.  We're almost all set now.  Today, Shawn's co-workers took him out for a happy hour (I guess that's a guys version of a baby shower) and gave him a gift card to Babies R Us.  Shawn and I plan to go shopping tomorrow to get the last of the items that we need before Emily arrives.  I have a feeling Shawn will be spending another weekend assembling the high chair, jumperoo, and swing.  :)

The nursery is almost ready!  We're still waiting on a few more things.  The pictures I ordered for above her dresser have arrived and have been hung.  Now we're waiting on her curtains to be finished up, so we can get those hung.  And I'm hoping to go order her rug this weekend.  The time has just gotten away from us, but I promise to post pictures soon!

Finally, now that I'm going to the dr. on a weekly basis, we are learning whether or not I'm showing any signs of labor.  This week I was dilated 1 cm.  We still have a long way to go, but at least there's some progress.  The dr. also threw out the idea of scheduling an induction date starting a week before her actual due date (so Nov. 10th).  I'm still debating whether or not to go ahead and schedule or just let her come on her own.  As each day goes by though, it's getting harder to turn down that option.  Just over the last week, my feet and ankles have been swelling up like crazy.  By the end of each day, I'm so exhausted.   I almost can't imagine it being like this for several more weeks.  It's pretty tempting to know I could schedule a date and she could be here in 2 1/2 weeks.  We'll see though.  I'm going to make the decision when I go to my appt. next week. As each day passes, the more anxious and excited I get.  I can't wait to meet her!

36 weeks

I'm 36 weeks today!  I feel like my stomach is huge!  At this point, I feel like both me and Emily are running out of room.  Hopefully, it won't be too much longer now.  My nights of sleeping well are long gone! I just can't get comfortable.  I now start going to the dr. weekly, so I'm hoping we'll start to get some indication as to when she might arrive.

Baby gear is taking over the house!

Since we're down to the last month, I asked Shawn if he would start assembling all of the baby gear we had received so far.  The morning started out positively as he assembled the stroller, carseat, and cradle.  He even enjoyed testing out the stroller by running around the house with it and seeing how much he could run over.  :)   But the frustration grew as he moved on to the pack and play and bouncer.  I had to convince him that it was okay to open the instruction manual rather than just trying to figure it out on his own.  A couple hours later and it became very obvious that we will soon have a baby living in our house.  It's so crazy how such a small person requires so much stuff!  I took a few pictures of him and his faithful helper Lily assembling all the gear.

Lily's favorite part was all the big boxes she could climb in.

One month to go!

Okay, well technically it's a month from this Thursday, but who's counting.  :)  Not too much to update everyone on, but I realized I haven't posted anything in over a week, so I thought I would share some stuff that's been going on.  Emily's furniture and bedding have arrived and have been set up.  Without having seen everything before we ordered it, I'm very happy with how it all turned out.   I'm not posting pictures just yet, as we're still waiting on her curtains to be finished up as well as some pictures I ordered to come in.  So please be patient with me!  Hopefully within the next couple of weeks, we'll be all done with it.

This is our last week of childbirth class!  Shawn is actually in Las Vegas for work all week, so my mom is going to attend this weeks class with me.  We learn about infant safety and CPR.  Starting tomorrow, I will be going to the dr. on a weekly basis.  As of now, there is no indication as to when Emily will arrive.  But I know I am getting anxious!

Emily Update

This past Wednesday, Shawn and I got to see Emily one last time before she arrives!  My belly had been measuring small at my last few appointments, so the dr. scheduled an ultrasound just to make sure everything was okay.  Turns out Emily is doing great!  It's just the position that she's in that's making my belly measure small.  As of Wednesday, she weighed approximately 4 lbs, 11 oz, which is in the 56% for being 33 weeks.  So she's right on track to be average size at birth, between 7 - 7.5 lbs.  She's still moving quite often in my tummy.  I love feeling her move!  It's a little bit of reassurance to me that everything is okay.  I almost can't remember what it's like to not look down at my stomach and see it moving.

On another note, Shawn and I attended 2 more childbirth classes.  Our fourth class we learned all about C-Sections (something I still am hoping I don't have to have) and we took the very exciting tour of the hospital.  I think seeing where Emily would be delivered was a big reality check for Shawn and I.  While we are both  very excited about her arrival, we can't help but be a little nervous at the same time.  Only 6 1/2 more weeks before her due date!  In our class this week, we learned about baby care and what to expect when Emily arrives.  I think this was a very helpful class.  We found out when we should call the pediatrician and when not to worry.  We also learned how to care for her within the first few weeks of her arrival.  Only 2 more classes to go!

Now for a bit of a nursery update.  Emily's furniture has arrived in Dallas!  Thanks again Steph and Luke for hunting it down for us!  Shawn is hoping to be able to pick it up today.  Her bedding should be in by the end of next week.  Now I can finally start decorating her room!  I'll post pictures as soon as it's all done!
