August Little Things

It's been a busy month for us with summer ending and school starting.  Here are all the little things we've been up to this month.

Emily started off the month losing 2 more teeth.  She's up to 8 teeth lost now.

Both kids went to Grace's birthday party at Young Chef's Academy.

Emily spent the night at KK's after Evan had his turn last month.

Shawn's office had their annual "take your kid" to work day.

They only "worked" for a half day and then came home and had some fun at the neighborhood pool.

Cameron took the kids to her house one day.  Their cousins ended up going too, so there were 10 kids in the house!

Emily went on her very first friend sleepover.  It was for one of her bestie's birthday parties.

While Em was at the sleepover, Evan had a friend of his own come and play during the day.

Evan started T-ball practice.

Evan went to the Kindergarten pool party and got to meet some new friends.

Cameron took them to Amazing Jake's for some fun filled last day of summer fun.

We went to Kevin and Julie's house for dinner one night.

First Day of Kindergarten!

Today was the day Evan started Kindergarten!  Leading up to this day, he kept saying he was very nervous about it all, which of course made me nervous for him.   We spent a lot of time beforehand  talking about how fun Kindergarten was and all the new and exciting things he would get to do now that he was in "big kid" school.

When the day arrived, I thought Evan might have a hard time with us leaving him, but he surprised me and did great.  I could tell he still had some nerves, but he hid them well and didn't have any tears.  I was so proud of him!  This year Evan has a brand new teacher, Ms. Matthews.  Luckily, Evan got in a class with one of his friends from his soccer team.  I was so relieved by that as I think it helped having a familiar face in the class.

When I picked Evan up, he was a boy with few words.  After pulling it out of him, he told me his teacher was nice and he did have a good day.  I didn't get too much more than that though.  I'm just glad we both made it through his first day and he was excited to go back again the next day.  As of today, Evan officially became part of the class of 2030!

First Day of Second Grade!

Today was Emily's first day of second grade.  She had been looking forward to starting back to school for the last week or so.  It's not that she was so excited about the school part, but was super excited to see all her friends.  She has a new teacher this year, Mrs. King, who seems super nice.  Unfortunately, Emily doesn't have any good friends in her class, but I know that just gives her a chance to make some new friends.

At the end of the day, Em told me she had a good day.  She said her teacher was really nice and she liked her a lot.  She also said the day was a little boring though because they spent a lot of time practicing the rules and refreshing everyone's memory on where things were.  I can't wait to see what this year holds for her!

July Little Things

Ah, I can't believe this is our last month before school starts back up!  We're trying to soak up every last minute of summer before our schedule becomes jam packed again.  Here are the little things we've been up to in July that didn't get their own blog post.

Once a year, KK takes each of the grand kids for a fun outing and then has them spend the night at her house.  Evan was finally old enough to get to go and he was so excited for his turn.  KK and Grandpa Joe took him to the Ft. Worth Zoo for his outing.  He loved getting to spend the night after. Emily gets to have her turn next month.

While Evan was with KK, Shawn had some special one on one time with Em.  She requested that they go shopping at the mall.  He was introduced to her favorite store, Justice.

We got to go on a couple date nights this month. Once on a double date with Kevin and Julie and then another when my parents took all the adults out to dinner to celebrate Kevin's birthday.

We had a couple fun get togethers with friends. I only have a couple pics from our first dinner with friends though.  Poor Evan was the only boy that night.  He had to compromise when it came to the dress up selections.  :)

The kids continued to have an awesome time each day at home with Cameron.  They went to a week long art camp (which I have no pics from) and also went on fun outings.  This day they went to Chick fil A for cow appreciation day.

Shawn traded in his Jetta for a new truck.  He's been waiting years to have another truck and the kids were excited to check it out.

After not having one for over a year, I finally told Emily it was time to get her hair cut.  She had been fighting me on this for a while.  She loved her long hair.  I compromised with her and she didn't have to get it cut too short (only 6 inches cut off).  :)

And since she got it cut, she's been loving having it short.  This day she had french braids in it and loved how it looked when they came out.

Evan had a play date one morning at our house with his bestie, Dani, from Primrose.  While they played, Shawn and Em went and ran errands.  They also made a stop at Hurts to pick up some donuts.  The kids have been with Cam this summer, but it was Shawn and my first time to try them.  They were pretty good, but definitely more of a treat than a breakfast item!

Evan is signed up to play T-ball this fall.  Shawn took both kids to the park behind the kids school for some practice.

Shawn's company had a family night at the Frisco Roughriders Game.  When we walked in the gate, Emily got picked to tell a joke on the field.  Evan was too nervous to do it, but Em doesn't shy away from attention.

And one last silly picture to finish out the post with. . .Emily doing her best impression of her Daddy.
