2021 Soccer Signing Day - Renegades 09G Parker

Emily signed with a brand new team this year for soccer.  Coach David, who had been the assistant coach for her team the last 2 years, started his own team.  Emily was very excited about switching over to his team!  2 of her teammates also moved over with her.  Then there are 2 girls from her old coach's other team, so she has played with them before as well.  All the other girls are new.  They have only practiced together for a few weeks, but so far Emily really likes all the girls.  It's been so long since I've seen Em play, that I'm excited to see her new team finally play a game.  That won't happen until August though.  For now, they enjoyed their signing day party and a chance to get to know each other a little better.

Breckenridge, CO - Day 6

Saturday was our last day in Breck.   We didn't have a flight out until after 6:00 though, so we had a good chunk of the day to explore.  We ate 1 last breakfast in town and packed up the condo and drove about an hour to Georgetown, CO, but not before surprising the kids with another quick stop to feed the chipmunks.  This time we brought some sunflower seeds for them.  We only had about 15 min this time, but just like last time, the kids could have spent all day there!

I had booked us tickets on the Georgetown Loop Railroad.  This was such a nice change of pace.  We all enjoyed sitting and just checking out the scenery.  It lasted about an hour, which was perfect because right as we got to our car after, the skies opened up and the rain came.  We were hungry at this point, so we drove to downtown Georgetown for lunch.  The place we chose was so short staffed and short on food that lunch took a long time.  But it was ok for us because we had lots of time to kill before our flight out.  After lunch we made the rest of the drive to Denver to catch our flight.  It was fitting after the week that we had, that we would get more rain and our flight would be delayed.  Luckily it was only about an hour, but as a result we didn't get to our house until after 11:00 pm.  We were all wiped!

Overall, it was a great trip!  I wish the weather had cooperated a little bit more, but at least the rain gave a nice break from the heat we have at home.  There were still so many activities that we didn't get to do (ie. fly fishing, zip lining, etc) because we just ran out of time and money. ha.  I guess we'll just have to make a trip back at some point.

Breckenridge, CO - Day 5

Friday morning we slept in a bit and went to brunch.  It was nice to have a more leisurely morning for once!  After a big brunch, we drove an hour to Kremmling, CO to go whitewater rafting.  I debated whether to sign us up for class II or class III rapids.  In the end, we decided it was best to err on the side of caution and do class II.  After all, the last time we went the kids were only 3 and 5 and didn't remember it at all.

We were in a raft with another family of 5.  Evan wanted to sit right up in the front, so that's where Em sat by default.  That wasn't a good decision and she didn't feel secure up there and wasn't expecting the first large rapid.  But luckily, after switching seats around, Em had much more fun.  The water was cold and it was cloudy outside which stunk, but we made the best of the situation.  We rafted for about and hour and then stopped for people to cliff jump.  We all opted out.  ha. I think if it had been hot and sunny out, I may have been a little more willing, but none of us wanted to be wet and cold the last half of rafting.  By the end, we all had wished we did the class III rapids.  But now we know for next time!

On our way back to Breck, we made a pit stop at the Sapphire Point Overlook.  I had read about how you can feed the chipmunks.  We got really lucky that when we stopped, there were some people walking out and gave us their leftover food. Shawn and the kids were thinking we would just throw the food out, but nope, I read they come right up to eat out of your hands.  I'd have to say this may have been the highlight of the trip for the kids.  They could have spent hours there!  We had to pull them away because Shawn and I were getting hungry for dinner!

After cleaning up when we got home, we headed out for dinner and 1 last scoop of ice cream.
