Emily Turns 10

This year Emily's birthday fell on a Monday.  Since she had soccer practice on Monday night, we decided to celebrate with dinner the Friday before.  She chose Uncle Julio's so she could get a chocolate pinata for dessert.

Monday morning she requested blueberry muffins, so that's what she got.

After soccer practice, we celebrated with cake!

Her party with friends is coming up in just a couple weeks.

To Emily On Your 10th Birthday

I wanted to make sure I included what I posted on FB and IG today:

10 years ago, we got the surprise of our lives when my water broke 3 weeks early.  I was excited and nervous and to be honest, ridiculously scared not knowing what we were getting ourselves into.  I didn't know how to be a mom and yet I knew I wanted to be the best one I could possibly be for you.

And then there you were, Emily, all 6 lbs, 10 oz.of you with that blonde hair and blue eyes.  On October 28, 2009, my life changed forever.  In that instant, I was given the greatest and most fulfilling gift I would ever receive.  I got to be your mom.

Over the last 10 years, I have watched you grown and I, myself, have grown and learned so much.  I might be the parent, but it's from you, Emily, that I have learned patience and understanding.  I've learned how to love unconditionally.  I've learned to be brave and tough.  I've learned to not always take life so seriously.  There have been laughs and tears, struggles and accomplishments.  And we've gone through them all together.

Today as we celebrate your first decade on earth, I know the best is still yet to come.  Big things are ahead for you.  I hope you always stay true to who you are.  Emily Joy, I hope you know just how special you are.  Happy 10th Birthday sweet girl!

----

I also thought I would start a new tradition this year and write the top 10 things I love most about Emily (in no particular order)

1. She's creative and artsy.  She loves to draw and is quite good at it.

2. She's an awesome friend.  She is always doing things to let her friends know just how much they mean to her.

3. She's the life of the party- rarely shy and rarely cares about what others think of her.

4. She's a breakfast snob.  This girl won't touch cereal in the morning.  She wants a home made breakfast or else, she'll just skip breakfast.

5.  She's super athletic and fast.  She's extremely competitive and always gives 110%.

6.  She loves animals - especially dogs.  It really is a shame that she's allergic to almost every kind of animal.  She makes up for being unable to have a live animal, with all the stuffed animals that she has.

7.  She's one of the toughest girls I know.  She's always had obstacles that she has had to overcome, whether it be eczema, allergies or dyslexia.  But she doesn't let any of those things stop her!

8.  She's a lover of all things Italian food - pasta, pizza, you name it.  Italian food is the way to this girl's heart

9.  She's a Daddy's girl through and through.  They have a special bond that I just can't break.

10. She's funny.  She knows how to make people laugh.

September Little Things

September started and so did ALL the sports!  Baseball games started during the weeknights, sometimes twice a week.  The Padres had a rough start to the season.  Evan still needs work fielding/catching, but he's been doing great at hitting this season.

School is in full session.  I got a few pics from the kids teachers at school.

It's been hot!  One afternoon the kids had a water balloon fight to help them cool off.

Shawn, my Dad and brother went to their annual Cowboys/ Giants game.  Of course they had to do their traditional tailgate and go all out.

One of Evan's teammates had a birthday and all the boys got cupcakes after one of the practices.

Shawn took Fiona and Emily exploring during one of Evan's baseball practices.

One night when I went to turn Evan's lamp off before I went to bed, I found him asleep like this.  HAHA

Em's soccer team has been struggling in the regular season.  They have been short a girl all season do to her getting hurt.  So between them being short subs and this heat, it has been tough!  They have lost 2 games and tied all the rest.  But this game, they finally won.  We had to capture this moment.  Hopefully, it's now the first of many!

Evan's been catching lots of lizards in the backyard!

Sooo tired after dropping Em off at soccer practice!

Evan threw some toys up here, so we decided he would be the one that had to go up and get them.  Em of course, wanted to join him!

We met Kevin, Julie and the girls at McKinney Oktoberfest one weekend.  It was super hot.  The kids enjoyed riding a few of the rides.  This one was a favorite.

Evan started cub scouts this month.  Shawn is the den leader.
