Labor Day Weekend

We spent most of the long weekend getting our house put back together after a big remodel (post coming soon), but still had time for some fun.   Each year over Labor Day weekend Shawn goes dove hunting with his family.  He's taken Emily once before and this year he took both kids.  He got a lease that's much closer this year, so instead of going for the whole weekend and staying in a hotel, they were able to just drive out to hunt and then head back.  Both kids have been looking forward to hunting and couldn't wait for the day to arrive.  Shawn went by himself Saturday morning, but took the kids with him Saturday night.  They didn't actually shoot a gun, just Em's BB gun.  However, they both had a blast watching everyone else shoot dove.

Gotta look cute while you're hunting.  :)

At first I thought they were just holding hands, but nope, they are holding a bird.  Yuck!

They only went hunting that one day since we had so much to get done around the house.  Their hope is to go back a few more times during dove season.

On Sunday we went over to Kevin and Julie's house to swim and eat dinner.  The cousins always have a blast together.  It might have been our last swim day of the year!?

August Little Things

ugust was a super busy month as we wrapped up summer and the kids started back at school and sports.  We also started a home remodel which just added to the excitement.  Here's a look back at all the little things we did in August.
KK picked up the kids around lunch a random day this summer and they went over to Uncle Scott's to swim with their cousins.

Shawn's company had their annual family event, this time at the Ranger's game.  It was the first time the kids had ever been to a game.  The game was on a Friday night, so we only made it half way through before the kids were done, but we all enjoyed it.

We went bowling with the cousins on one Sunday.  We made it a competition for the kids and Evan came away the winner with the highest score.  He was pumped to win a $5 game card!

Evan was up to his old antics of making booby traps.  You just really never know what you are going to walk into with this kid.  I swear he's going to be an engineer when he grows up.

Shawn and I took off the 3 days before school started to stay with the kids.  One day Shawn took them to buy some hunting gear.

And they also played a round of monopoly - Evan's new FAVORITE game.  The kid always wants to play this.

They also went shopping for stuff we needed to buy for the home remodel.

And one afternoon they picked up the cousins who were home alone and went to Jump street.  They all learned how to ride a mechanical bull.

The day I was home with them, we spent the day with the cousins again, this time swimming, going to lunch and getting ice cream.  They were all sad it was the last day of summer.

One morning I had a dr. appt before work which meant I had time to walk the kids to school.  I wish I got to do that more often!

Our home remodel got underway and we ended up having to stay in a hotel one night when they painted all the upstairs trim.  Not only was it stinky, but it was still wet when we got home, so all the bedrooms had the furniture pushed in the middle of the room.  The kids loved it!

We met KK and Grandpa Joe in Southlake to celebrate my birthday.  The girls shopped while the boys sat at a restaurant.

Evan's teacher called me the 3rd week of school to tell me about an extra awesome day that he had at school.  She also sent a note home.  I love that he's doing so great this year.

ALL the activities started back up for the kids.  Evan started in a more competitive baseball league and they ended the month with 2 back to back scrimmages.  It sure is fun watching them play this year.

And to finish up, here are just a few random pics from the month.

Whew, that was a lot!  Good job, if you made it through that post.   :)  I know the next few months will be just as busy as this one.
