March Little Things

Emily attended a friend's birthday party at an ice skating rink.  The kids got to skate for an hour.  Emily spent 45 skating around the edge holding onto the side, but the last 15 minutes she was brave and ventured to the middle of the ice.  Only then did she realize just how fun ice skating was and how it wasn't as hard as she thought.  She left the ice saying she couldn't wait to skate again.

She also attended her friend, Aubrey's birthday party.  It was at an art studio.  Anything dealing with arts and crafts is right up Emily's alley.

Evan got to try out a new sports class at school one day.

We had our friends, the Gists, over for dinner one night.  I think all 4 kids had a blast playing together!

Emily had her spring break this month.  We had several fun outdoor activities planned and then it rained all week.  I was so bummed.  It ended up being a pretty quiet week for us because of the rain.  We stayed home with Emily 2 days and the other 3 days she went to Primrose.  Even with the rain, she still go to see the movie, Zootopia, with Shawn and go roller skating with Primrose.

Aside from our rainy week during Spring Break, it's been super nice outside.  One afternoon we got the water table out of the garage for Evan to play with.  Before we knew it, he was using it as a swimming pool.

Emily got to go on another field trip with school.  This time it was to Safety Town.  Unfortunately, I didn't get to go, but I did grab this picture off twitter (although Em is sitting behind someone so you can't really see her).

Evan had Dr. Suess week at school and one day in honor of the book, Wacky Wednesday, they got to wear wacky clothes.

Evan loves to be just like his Daddy and so one night he requested that he be able to take his grill outside so he could grill right alongside Shawn.  Who could say no to that?

One Sunday we took the kids to the Stockyards in Fort Worth.   We watched the cattle drive, Shawn and the kids went through the maze and we ate lunch out there.   Of course after several very warm days, this day we woke up to cold and windy weather.  The kids still enjoyed the trip though.

Emily has decided we need to start a new family tradition on Friday nights.  She has requested movie nights every other Friday night .  We kicked off our first movie night watching Shawn's movie choice. . Swiss Family Robinson.  It was a little long for the kids, but besides that they really enjoyed it.

Happy Easter!

I was so thankful that Evan seemed to be back to normal when he woke up Sunday morning!  Both kids were so excited to see what the Easter bunny had left them, that they were up early.

I did make them wait until it was light outside to hunt for the eggs that the bunny had hid.

Late morning we headed over to my brother's house to have brunch with my family.  I have zero pics to show for it though!

Easter in Burleson

We had planned on spending Saturday afternoon in Burleson to celebrate Easter with Shawn's family.   On our way, poor Evan got sick in the car, so Shawn turned around and dropped him and I off back at home.  Emily and Shawn still made the trek out to Burleson though.   I was sad we couldn't all go, but it looks like they had lots of fun!

Back at home, Evan and I spent a lot of time just snuggling on the couch.  I just kept hoping whatever he had would pass quickly!

Our sad faces that we had to stay home.

Good Friday Recap

Both Emily and I had off on Friday.  I was excited to spend the day with Em.  Evan still went to school because it was the day of his Easter party and egg hunt.

Em and I started the day off with breakfast at the Original Pancake House.  Then went back home so I could get a few chores done around the house.  Late morning we headed out to get Em's haircut.  I had been trying to convince her to cut her hair for months now, but she kept insisting she wanted to grow it out like Rapunzel's hair.   I gave in for a while, but eventually I decided she had no choice.  I was the one doing her hair every morning and I was over it!  So off to the hair salon we went.  I wanted her to get a long bob, but she didn't want to go quite that short.  So we compromised and cut it to her shoulders.  I love it!  Em was hesitant at first, but has since said how much she likes her short hair.
It was soo long!

Much better!

After her haircut, we ran some errands and headed back home for a little bit before going back out to Evan's Easter party up at school.  I love getting to go to the kids school events.  Evan was so excited about the Easter egg hunt.  He is a master egg hunter and found a ton of eggs.  But my boy is so sweet and willingly shared many of his eggs with some kids that didn't get too many.

Being silly.  It was so funny because all the parents knew Evan.  He gets there so early, all the parents know him.  They say he's part of the welcoming committee in the morning.  :)

After the party we headed home and dyed Easter eggs.  I had bought a set that came with all kinds of stickers, but in the end the kids just wanted to dye them and color them with markers.  Whatever keeps them happy.  :)

Em found some confetti eggs at Evan's egg hunt.  A little boy told her to smash them on her head, so she did.
