This past weekend Emily and her soccer team competed in the League Challenge Cup. After having their Friday night game rained out, all of the games were rescheduled and they ended up having a 5:00 game Saturday night, 9:30 am game Sunday and a 2:00 game Sunday. And if they made it to the Finals, they would have an additional game at 6:30 on Sunday.
Saturday's game went well and they won 4-0. Em was a bit disappointed that she didn't get too much playing time. Luckily that changed at the Sunday morning game and she played a lot. She also got her first goal of the season. I was so excited for her! Her team won 4-0. Sunday afternoon her team won 5-0. Em was super disappointed after the 3rd game because again, she hardly played. Luckily though, all their shut-outs earned them enough points to play in the final game. Emily started that game and played all but maybe 5 minutes. It was the most she had ever played! This team was super tough though and after leading 1-0 at half time, the other team came back and in the last few minutes pulled off the win 2-1 leaving Em's team to finish in 2nd place.
It was a long weekend of soccer, but gosh, it sure was fun watching Emily and her teammates play their little hearts out. I think it lit a fire under all of them knowing they were so close to finishing first. Hopefully when they go to Austin in a couple months, they will come out on top in that tournament!
