Cedar Creek Lake

In the middle of July we went to Cedar Creek Lake for 5 days with Shawn's mom, brother and extended family.  We spent the majority of the time just relaxing in the pool and hanging out.  One day we did rent a boat and go out on the lake.  That was quite the adventure. . .the boat was in terrible condition and the lake was super low, but the kids had a blast tubing and the lake was really pretty.

The kids had so much fun hanging out with all their cousins and Evan learned to play poker.  He even won a big jackpot one night.

June Little Things

Here are all the little things we were up to in June:

Kallin started nannying for the kids as soon as we got back from Turks.  They did lots of fun activities throughout the month.  Evan was exhausted each night the first week of summer.

We took the kids to the Dallas Farmer's Market one weekend. I had never been before. We all really enjoyed walking around the booths, stores and food pavilions.  We got lucky that it was cloudy for the majority of the day because once that sun came out, it was hot and we were done!  It's nice playing tourist in your own city though.

Emily got her hair highlighted for the very first time.

Evan's lego display in the gameroom grew.

Em caught a pretty sunset during soccer practice one night.

Pine Cove Camp

Both kids headed to Pine Cove camp the last week of June.  I spent the weeks leading up to camp, getting their trunks all packed up and ready to go.  It's a lot of work packing for 1 kid, let alone 2!

This was Evan's first time to go and he was a bit nervous leading up to it.  He went with my friend Stephanie's son, Lane.  While they don't know each other well, it sure was nice for him to have a familiar face with him.  He was at Towers, which is 1st-5th grade.  We dropped him off first and I'll be honest, I was a bit nervous to leave him.  I just hoped he had the very best week ever!

This was Emily's second year at Pine Cove, so drop off for her was a breeze.  She was still at the Ranch, so she was familiar with everything.  She was looking forward to going with her 2 friends, Aubrey and Gracie, along with a couple girls she met at camp the previous year, Alexis and Paxton.  As soon as we got her set up in her cabin, she was ready for us to leave.

Shawn and I met our neighbors for dinner that night and of course I anxiously waited for pictures of the kids to pop up, so I knew they were alright.

Shawn and I had made dinner plans most nights this week, so between work and dinners, it definitely helped keep my mind from constantly thinking about the kids.  I got very excited when pictures did pop up and I saw lots of smiles.  It also helped being able to write and receive letters twice during the week.

Friday night, Shawn and I headed to Tyler and stayed the night so we could be there bright and early for camp pickup the next morning.  I was so excited to get my babies back!  It's hard to leave them for a week and not have much communication!

Evan enjoyed his time there, but decided he didn't want to go back next year.  I sure was proud of him for giving it a try though!  Emily had a blast as usual and already said she can't wait to go back again next year.
