Happy 4 Months!

What's happening with Emily at 4 months:

- She wears size 3-6 month clothes.

- She eats about 5 oz. every 3 hours.  She's still not the best eater especially since she's been sick.

- She can sleep through the night, but it seems like 2-3 nights a week, she'll wake up once during the night.  Although, the time each night is not consistent.

- She's much more aware of her surroundings.  She won't sleep well unless we are at home.  So our outings are very limited.

- She's starting to give us a few laughs now.

- She's more aware of toys and is starting to be interested in rattles.

- She's discovered her tongue and loves to stick it out.

- She loves going to school.  She always has the biggest smiles waiting for her teachers.

- She still loves TV!

Happy Birthday Daddy

Shawn turned the big 32 today!  Man, he is getting so old!  I love being able to tell him I'm still in my twenties.

No big plans this year.  We still have a sick baby at home.  She's still very congested and has now pretty much lost her voice.  Her cries are so sad to listen to as she can hardly get any sound to come out.

Here's the birthday boy with his biggest fan.

Rough Week

First off, I apologize to my faithful blog followers (all 3 of you, ha) for my lack of postings recently.  It's been a long week at the Baxter house.  It all started Monday night when a stomach bug flew into our house and hit me hard!  Let's just say, I'm not sure of a time when I have ever felt so sick.  I stayed home from work Tuesday and barely made it out of bed.  Shawn was so great though at taking care of me and keeping Emily away.  Unfortunately for us though, Shawn started not feeling well Tuesday afternoon.  Luckily, he didn't get hit nearly as hard as me, but was still not in any shape to take care of a baby.  Thank goodness for my family!  My brother was able to pick Emily up from school Tuesday night and my mom kept her for the night.  The last thing I wanted was for Emily to catch whatever it was we had.  So good news. . .she didn't get the stomach bug.  Bad news. . .she caught a pretty bad cold and is very congested.  My mom was so great and stayed home with her Wednesday hoping that would help her get better.  I think it helped some, but unfortunately since we can't really give her any medicine her cold will just have to run it's course.  I was so excited to pick her up from my parent's house last night as I hadn't really seen her since briefly Monday night.  It was a long night though.  She obviously isn't sleeping well since she's so congested, so I was up for about an hour and a half in the middle of the night, rocking her to sleep.  Let's just say, I eventually put her in her swing to sleep.  I think sitting upright helped her finally be able to get some good sleep.  It's so hard to watch your baby be sick.   You feel so helpless!  So needless to say, it has been a really LONG week.  I'm just counting down to the weekend when we can all get some much needed rest!!

Happy Valentine's Day

We've been celebrating Valentine's Day all week long at our house.  Mimi had gotten several Valentine's Day outfits for Emily, so we wore our hearts all week to daycare.
We even made Valentine's Day cookies for all her teachers at school.  They were a big hit.
Mommy and Daddy got Emily a Valentine's Day dress to wear today.  So we got all dressed up and headed over to dinner at Mimi and Papa's house.
Emily also got some Valentine's sunglasses.  Here she is trying them out.  Now if only we could have a sunny day to use them.
Hope everyone had a great Valentine's Day!

Snow Baby

Once it warmed up a little, I bundled Emily up in her "bear outfit" and we headed outside.  I had to take a picture or two of her in the snow, just in case this never happens again.
My friend Courtney came over to play in the snow with us.
I don't think she was too impressed with all the snow.

Snow Day!!

It's hard to believe I'm in Texas right now!  We got record snowfall yesterday.  It snowed all day!  Literally from the time I woke up yesterday morning, until long after I went to sleep.   I believe they said DFW airport received 12.5 inches.  I think we got a little less than that at our house.   Of course, all the schools were closed today, so that meant Emily's daycare was closed too.  Shawn had to get some stuff done at work today, so I made the sacrifice and decided to stay home with Emily!  Between the snow we had at Christmas and then now, Emily is going to start thinking it snows all the time in Texas!  Here are a few pictures that I took this morning.  I'm hoping, once it warms up a little, I can bundle Emily up and we can venture out into the snow.

Baby's Got Her Blue Jeans On

I couldn't resist posting a picture of Emily wearing her blue jeans.  I think they make her look like such a big girl.
On another note. . .As we fight the constant battle to keep Emily entertained, we have gotten out her Exersaucer for her to try.  She's still a bit too small for it, but she seems to enjoy being in the standing position.  She's noticing the toys, but still prefers to just chew on her hands.

On The Move

Lately, Emily has become such a mover.  Her days of just laying in my arms are long gone!!!  She has to constantly be entertained and moving.  Her teachers at school even tell me how active she is.  They all predict she will be walking at 9 months.  Here's what we do on a typical day to keep Emily entertained.  And this all takes place in about a 20 minute period.

We play on her mat . . .

We stand up and walk around. . .

We sit in the Bumbo seat. . .

We watch some TV. . .

Then she's tired enough and will finally let me just sit with her. . .

Of course, Lily has to be involved too. . .
