This year for Thanksgiving break, we headed north to Broken Bow, OK with Shawn's family. We stayed in a cabin for 4 days and had lots of relaxation time! We went with KK, Grandpa Joe, Granny, Scott, Stephanie, Myles, Mason and Stephanie's mom and dad. The house was on 40 acres and was super nice. The kids absolutely loved it. It had an air hockey table, a pool table, a huge slide off the back deck, a swing set, a fire pit outside and backed right up to a creek. The kids spent most of the 4 days outside exploring.
We stayed in a bedroom that had a King size bed and a set of twin bunk beds. The kids loved the bunks! Evan kept saying he wished he had them at home. Em was nice and let him sleep on the top.

Wednesday and Thursday we just stayed at the house and explored the grounds. We enjoyed sitting by the fire each night and roasted smores our first night. I was actually able to sit and read a book for once. It was great! We played a lot of games too, which I always like to do. Evan spent the whole time hunting for sticks. He hardly came inside. Shawn brought Em's BB gun with us too and she enjoyed target shooting.

Friday we ventured out to the State Park close by. There was an area that had a train ride and horse trails. We made a reservation to ride the horses Saturday morning before we left. After the train ride, we hiked for a bit on 1 of the many trails. We didn't go too far, but said if we ever go back, that we'd prepare more to hike longer. Before leaving the park, we also checked out Broken Bow Lake. It was a pretty lake!
We ate lunch out at a restaurant and then hit up a couple of gift shops. Broken Bow isn't a big place, so there wasn't too much Black Friday shopping to do. :)
Saturday morning we packed up and headed out, but not before going back to the State Park to ride horses. The 4 of us went on the 45 minute trail ride and it was fun! The kids loved it. Evan got to lead us all on his horse. I haven't been on a horse since I was a kid. . .I forgot how uncomfortable it is. Ha. During the trail ride we even got to see some deer.
Overall, we had a great get away. KK is thinking this might become an annual Thanksgiving tradition. . .well every 2 years when we are with his side of the family. We'd love to maybe go back in the summer time too and enjoy the lake.
