Weekend in San Antonio

This year for spring break we went to San Antonio for a long weekend.  We took the kids out of school the Friday before break and hit the road.  We made a pit stop in Waco for a couple of fun outings.  We stopped at Magnolia.  It had grown a lot since we had been there last.  We had lunch Magnolia table and then went to the Dr. Pepper Museum.

We got back on the road and headed to San Antonio.  We stayed at the Hilton Canopy right on the Riverwalk.  It was a bit off the main area which was nice because the Riverwalk was so crowded.  I knew a lot of people were on Spring Break, but I was still surprised by the crowds!  We had dinner reservations for Mexican food, of course.  We ate at Acenar right on the Riverwalk.

Saturday morning we were up early and headed to to the Market Square.  We ate breakfast at Mi Tierra which was right in the square.

We walked around for a bit and checked out all the shopping booths before making our way to the Alamo.  We didn't have tickets for the inside tour, but enjoyed walking around and reading all the signs outside.   I knew I wanted to do a boat tour of the riverwalk while we were there.  Unfortunately, you couldn't reserve your tickets ahead of time, so the line to wait was long!  We stuck it out though and it was pretty interesting and nice to sit.

That night for dinner we walked a mile or so down the Riverwalk to the Pearl District.  This was a newer area and much quieter.  I think we all enjoyed this area the most.  We walked around a few shops before eating dinner at Southerleigh Fine Food and Brewery.

Sunday morning we ate brunch at our hotel's restaurant, Domingo.  It had seating right on the Riverwalk.  After breakfast, we piled in the car and headed North.  We had reservations at the Natural Bridge Caverns and the Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch.  I think both of these were highlights of the trip.

We headed back to the Riverwalk and ate dinner right next to our hotel at the Esquire Tavern before ending our night watching The Saga at the San Fernando Cathedral.

It was a quick getaway, but nonetheless, nice to get away for a few days!

March Little Things

Here are all the little things we were up to March:

Track season wrapped up.  Emily qualified for the district track meet in the 100M dash.  Only the top 8 finishers from all 18 middle schools qualified for each event, so that was pretty exciting for her.  However, due to how the coaches treated Emily and because of how sore her knee was Emily ultimately decided to withdraw from the district meet.  She had no interest in doing another week of track and preferred to just move on to school soccer.

Shawn and Evan went to a Stars game and checked out Black Tap for dinner beforehand.

Shawn, Em and I went to Austin for a week for a couple of soccer league games.  While we were there Evan stayed with KK and went to Bolder Adventure Park.

Courtney and Grant were in Austin too for Grace's gym meet, so we met up to watch march madness.

Shawn and I celebrated our 16th wedding anniversary and went out to dinner.

Easter was early this year being in March, but the bunny visited the kids.
