May Little Things

We got lots of pictures of Evan from school this month.  I love getting glimpses of his day.

I love this sweet boy!

Shawn washed his car one afternoon and Evan gladly helped vacuum out the trunk.  He was just the right size.

We went over to Kevin and Julie's for swimming and dinner one night.  The kids had a blast having a dance party in the backyard.
Julie's parents were in town and they brought their dog, Banjo, with them.  Emily was in love with this dog and she's not usually a huge dog fan.  He was the sweetest most calm dog ever and she couldn't stop petting him.  Oh how I wish she wasn't allergic and we could have a dog!

Emily got to participate in her first book character parade at school.  This is an annual event that they do.  She was Rapunzel from Tangled.

Emily finally had open house, after it was rescheduled last month due to bad weather.  She loved showing us her class and all of her work.
We had to guess which picture was Emily

We went to the Roughrider's baseball game one Sunday afternoon.  We were lucky enough to be upgraded to all you can eat/drink seats, which the kids loved.  Pretty sure they ate ice cream and popcorn for dinner that night.  It also happened to be a night when the Ranger's pitcher was rehabing, so he was pitching for the Roughriders.  Shockingly, we actually stayed until the middle of the 8th inning and that was with just a very short trip to the playground.

Our best attempt at a family pic.

We enjoyed some nice weather (mixed in with all the rain).

I looked outside and realized Evan tied himself to the tree.

Evan finished up another session of soccer shots at school.  He'll be doing the summer session too before signing him up for an actual soccer team in the Fall.  He was hoping for a trophy, but had to settle for a pretty cool medal.

Emily had her first field day at school.  Unfortunately, the weather wasn't great so it had to be held in the parking lot instead of the fields and it got cut a bit short when it started raining.

Emily had a talent show at Alphabest.  Kinder through third grade performed in it.  It was cute.  Em has had so much fun at Alphabest this year and has made so many friends outside of just the ones that are in her Kinder class.  It really has been such a great experience for her.  She will be back at Alphabest in the Fall.

Emily had a 4 day weekend for the Memorial Day holiday.  We had planned to take Evan to school, but due to him getting sick and a dr. appt, he was home as well.  Shawn took the kids out to a new donut shop for breakfast.

Over Memorial Day Weekend, Shawn took the kids out to DFW national cemetery to put flags at his Grandpa's tombstone.

School is on the home stretch now.  Emily only has 4 more days left before she's out for the summer!

Conversations with Evan

Evan was eating a popsicle last night after dinner:

Shawn: "What flavor is your popsicle, cherry?"
Evan: "No, it's popsicle flavor."

Mother's Day 2016

We started celebrating Mother's Day last week with a couple events at the kids schools.  Last Thursday, Emily had a Mother's Day program at school.  It was so cute!  The Kindergartners sang about 4 or 5 songs and then we all had a picnic lunch in the cafeteria.  I loved getting to spend some time with Em during her school day.  I picked her up from Alphabest early that day too and we went and grabbed some ice cream for an afternoon snack.

On Friday, it was time for me to celebrate with Evan.  He had muffins with Mom at school.  Again, I love getting some 1 on 1 time with each of the kiddos.

Both kids showered me with home made cards and crafts for Mother's Day.  I look forward to these gifts every year!

"Dear Mommy, I love you because you love me and you are nice."  Notice she totally left Evan off the family picture.  Also that she drew herself with blonde hair.  Some pictures she has brown hair and others it's blonde.  :)

A flower she made for me in art class.

Notice the number #1 reason that I rock.  I don't do the cooking in our house, Shawn does.  So I totally laughed at this and asked Em what food I make that's so good.  She responded saying, "Oh, that was another kid's idea, I just copied it from the board."  Ha.

"Dear Mom,  I love you because you let me watch my kindle."  Too bad the day I got this, she lost her kindle for the week.

Evan made me a sun catcher at school.

Sunday morning, Shawn and the kids surprised me with donuts for breakfast.  They would have let me sleep in too, however, these darn allergies have made it impossible for me to sleep well the last few nights, so I was up bright and early with them.  Unfortunately, Evan was just not having a good day and literally pushed every button of mine on Sunday, but what are you going to do?  When you're 3, you don't really care if it's Mother's Day or not.  :) Luckily, we were able to salvage the day and we all enjoyed a nice brunch out with Kevin, Julie and the girls.  I even snuck away for some shopping and came home and took a nap.

Even though some days can be so difficult, I wouldn't change anything for being a Mom to these 2.  They keep my life interesting and fun and I love them to pieces!
