Stitches

Last Tuesday Evan made his very first trip to the ER to get stitches.  School called around 1:00 and told us that he was playing on his cot (it was naptime) and he fell on the bookshelf.  The director was really nonchalant about the whole thing, but said it might need stitches.  After receiving a picture of Evan, Shawn decided he definitely needed stitches so he went and picked him up.  They went to Dr. G's first so he could look at it and decide if he could glue it, but ultimately decided with how close it was to his eye, that he needed to get actual stitches.  So Shawn and Evan headed over to Children's Hospital in Plano to get him all fixed up.  They gave him some pain/anxiety medicine that made him really loopy and slur his words.  It definitely worked though because Shawn said Evan never shed a tear.  He was definitely tough about the whole thing!  Thankfully, Evan only needed 2 stitches and was home pretty quickly.  The hardest thing about the whole day was that the medicine the hospital gave him made him not be able to walk.  So trying to keep him sitting down so he wouldn't fall was hard!  Luckily it started wearing off after a few hours and by morning his legs were "working again", as Evan said.  I thought Evan might have a hard time keeping the band aid on all day, as he has never been a big fan of band aids, but even with this one making him not able to open his eye completely he was fine.  I found some fun new band aids at the store, so I think he enjoyed getting to pick out a new one each day.  We were told the stitches should dissolve in about 5 days.  We're about 10 days in and only 1 stitch is remaining. It seems to be healing pretty well.  I'm just hoping the scar isn't too bad.  I'm sure with how wild this child is, this probably won't be our first trip to the ER with him.

The picture school sent us.  Um, yeah, I think that's going to require stitches.  It was gaping open.

Feeling pretty out of it at this point.  They had to monitor his oxygen levels after they gave him the pain/anxiety medicine.

Not feeling any pain!

He was rewarded with a popsicle afterwards.

8 days in and just 1 stitch left.  Seems to be healing pretty well.

Happy 4th of July

We had fun celebrating the 4th of July all weekend long.  On Friday night our friends, the Terry's, invited us to go to Kaboom Town in Addison.  Jenny's Dad works at the Addison airport and he was able to get us access to sit right near the runway, which was a perfect spot for the air show and the fireworks.  We didn't get home until around 11:30, but it was so fun.

And just for a fun flashback. . .the kids sure look a lot older than the last time we went to Kaboom Town, 3 years ago!

On Saturday, we all slept in late after being out so late the night before.  Then we all took a 3 hour nap in the afternoon!  After everyone was up, we headed out to Scott and Stephanie's house for swimming and BBQ.

It was such a fun weekend celebrating July 4th with family and friends!

June I Phone Pics

This morning Evan snuck into the pantry, opened up a bag of cheeze it's,  proceeded to pour them into a basket and then hide out in the dining room to eat them.

This is how he left the pantry.
