Crested Butte, CO Trip - Day 6 and 7: Heading Back Home

We woke up Friday morning and got everything all packed up and said goodbye to CB.  It was tough to leave those mountains and the cooler weather!

We left the house around 8:45 and settled in for the 8 hour car ride back to Amarillo.  Shawn and I seriously considered driving straight through to Frisco, but ultimately decided it was best to stop and stay the night.  Poor Em got car sick half way through the drive back to Amarillo.  Those mountain roads just weren't her thing.  Luckily I had a bag in the car and she was able to throw up in it.  After she got sick we knew she would need some time out of the car.  So while we had planned on eating lunch in the car, we decided to stop and get out to eat instead.  That's just what she needed.  After lunch she was as good as new and back into the car we went.  We made it to Amarillo around 5:00 and went out to get some dinner before heading back to our room to rent a movie to watch.  At this point, we think Evan was delirious. He would not stop jumping around and moving.  I think he was so tired that he knew if he stopped moving he would just crash.  Eventually that's what he did. . .but not until almost 10:00.

We were up early Saturday morning and piled back in the car to make the 5.5 drive left back to Frisco.  This was the hardest stretch.  You feel so close to home, yet you're still so far!  We got home around 2:00 and got the car all unpacked and I did what felt like a mountain of laundry.  Shawn ended up taking Em to the dr because her sinuses seemed to be draining and she had been complaining her ears hurt.  Glad we did because she ended up having a double ear infection.  We were all in bed early that night.

Vacation is fun, but it is always so nice to get back home and sleep in your own bed.  Now I'm ready for a much slower July.
