Evan's 4th Birthday Party - PJ Masks

This past Sunday we had Evan's birthday party with all of his friends.  When I asked Evan what he wanted his theme to be, he knew right away that he wanted PJ Masks.  That's his very favorite TV show.  We had it at the Sci Tech Discovery Center.  We've been there a few times before, but never for a party.  I invited his class from school, his friends, Grace and Caitlyn, and then my nieces.  He had a great turnout!  I think there were 17 kids in total.

I wanted a picture of him with his cupcakes and he just wanted to take a silly pic.

Of course you gotta have masks at a PJ Masks party!  These were a big hit with the kids.

Goody bags . . bubbles and candy

A table for each PJ Mask character
The kids got to explore the museum for the first 30 minutes of the party.  I wish the kids had actually done more exploring than they did.  There was a maze in the front and they all spent the majority of the time in there.  All of the building stuff that Evan actually loves was in the back and he only found it all as we were leaving.  Oh well, the kids still had fun.

After the 30 minutes of exploring were up, the kids went into a room to do some science experiments.  I got to pick a theme ahead of time and I chose the bubble theme.  So the kids got to be inside of a giant bubble, make a bubble blower and hold a bubble in their hands.  Evan thought all the experiments were pretty neat.

After the experiments it was time for pizza and cupcakes.  When they were finished eating, the kids got to go back into the museum to explore some more.  I wish we could have actually stayed longer, but during the party a terrible storm rolled in and poor Shawn got soaked as he was loading up the car, so I knew it was time to just call it quits.  I think overall, Evan really enjoyed his party and loved having all his friends celebrate with him.  He was super excited to open all the fun presents he received when we got back home.

I realized when we got home that I just wasn't that great about taking pictures during the party.  In hindsight, I wish I got a group shot of all the kids and a family picture, but oh well.

Evan Turns 4!

Evan's birthday fell on a Sunday this year and that's the day he celebrated with all his friends.  But on Saturday, we had Mimi, Papa, Uncle Kevin, Aunt Julie, Lauren and Natty over to celebrate.  Evan got some fun new water toys from them and all the kids loved playing outside with them.

Mimi insisted I put a candle to grow on, so that's why he has 5 instead of 4.

Sunday morning, Evan got to pick what he wanted for breakfast.  He picked donuts, so donuts are what he got.  Shawn, Emily and I gave him our gifts.  Shawn and I got him a sand table for the backyard and Emily got him sand toys to go with his table.

To Evan On Your 4th Birthday

Dearest Evan,

Wow, this last year has flown by!  How are you already four?  This year you'll be entering your last year of school at Primrose before heading off to Kindergarten.  I'm ok if this year goes by a little slower than the rest.

You are all boy.  You love to be outside and would stay outside there forever if we let you.  You love to play in the dirt and water and look for bugs.  Riding your jeep outside has quickly become one of your favorite activities.  You're actually a really good driver, but I'm afraid you may never learn to ride a bike because you just want to drive everywhere.  We need to work on changing that this next year!

This last year you have become fully potty trained during the day and during naps.  You're still in a pull up at nighttime though.  You also taught yourself to stand up to go potty and I've come to realize just how great it is to have a boy that is potty training.   No bathroom nearby, no problem!  I have a feeling your sister is not going to love sharing a bathroom with you too much longer.  You have an awful hard time remembering to put the seat down.

Bedtime has become quite interesting with you little man.  You're the king of stalling.  Immediately after we put you to bed, you come out saying you have to go potty.  This goes on several times each night until you finally stay in your room.  Then usually about 60% of the time, Shawn and I wake up in the middle of the night to find you snuggled up in our bed between us.  Most of the time, we don't even hear you come in.  I would never have let Em stay in the bed with us, but something about you being the baby has made me not mind it so much.

Your all time favorite toy is legos.  You're constantly building something with them and if it's not them, you're collecting other small toys or building a blower or an edger or a lawn mower.  Tools are another big hit with you.  PJ Masks has become your all time favorite show.  That's the show you always request and surprisingly, Sleeping Beauty is among your favorite movies.  You love Maleficient and how she can turn into a dragon.

This year you've been in a soccer class at school and the last 6 months you have been in swim lessons.  I'm so very proud of how far you have come in swim lessons.  You no longer have any fear and you're quite a strong swimmer.  We've also signed you up to start on a soccer team this Fall.  I can't wait to see you in action.   I'm not completely sure that soccer will be your sport, but only time will tell.

You and your sister continue to have a love/hate relationship.  You sure do know how to push her buttons, little man!  But you can also be so sweet and so excited to see her at the end of the day.  She's back at school with you this summer and you couldn't love having her with you anymore than you do.  You are still my stubborn little guy!  Listening is not your strongest skill, nor is cleaning up after yourself.  You can throw one heck of a tantrum if we even suggest that you clean up your messes.  I hope we'll be leaving the threenager tantrums behind in the near future.

This is your last year at Primrose.  You have learned so much this year.  You know most of your letters and numbers and can even write a few on them.  You know how to spell your name too.  It's been fun seeing you at school this year without your sister.  Your teachers continue to tell me that you are a leader in the class.  When I ask you each day who you played with, 9 times out of 10 it's one of the girls in your class.  You are definitely a ladies man.

It's been a great year, Bud!  To my often times, no pants wearing, always have to have something in his hands, child, I love you!  You definitely add so much energy to our family.  You are full of spunk and super silly and I couldn't imagine my life without you in it.  You know how to push our buttons, but you also know how to make me smile on my worst days and give some of the best hugs and kisses ever.  I can't wait to see what this next year holds for you.

Love,
Mommy

Last Day of Preschool!

Friday was Evan's last day of Preschool.  This week he starts summer camp at Primrose.  He's also moving to a new classroom just for the summer.  Luckily, several of his friends are moving with him, so I don't think it will be too big of a deal for him.

He sure looks a lot older since the first day of Preschool!

He will start Pre-K in the Fall and that will be in his last year in Primrose before he starts Kindergarten.
