2018 Year In Review

Each year I like to take a look back at all the fun things we did during the year.

January

January is always a slow month for us and this one was no exception.  The kids enjoyed the slower pace and spent time outside and with friends.  We did squeeze in an outing to the Fort Worth Zoo.

February

Things picked up just a bit in February.  We celebrated Valentine's Day and the kids were in Aunt Catherine's wedding.  At the end of the month Shawn turned 40!

March

Spring break was this month and we took the kids on a Disney Cruise!  It was a blast.  Evan lost his very first tooth in March.  All the sports started back up and we had a few fun outings too - Crayola Experience and Em got to stay the night at the Gaylord for Aubrey's birthday.

April

We started the month off by celebrating Easter.  Shawn spent the good portion of 2 weeks in FL for work and while he was gone Emily hit her chin on the counter and ended up with stitches.  Evan learned to ride a bike with no training wheels.

May

Emily made her first communion in May and we wrapped up the soccer season.  We celebrated Mother's Day by going to brunch and as school started to wrap up, the weather warmed up and pool season began.

June

School ended and summer officially started.  Evan turned 6 and we celebrated at Hawaiian Falls and then with friends at Strikz.  We went on a family trip to Galveston with a pit stop in Houston and Edna.  Baseball wrapped up for the season and Emily tried a go at Academy soccer.  We also celebrated Father's Day with friends at brunch.

July

We kicked off the month celebrating the 4th of July and went to a Roughrider's game. We went to Top Golf with friends and overall just had a bit of a slower month.

August

Summer wrapped up, but not before we enjoyed a few more fun activities.  Shawn had a family fun night for his work at the Ranger's game.  We also took the kids bowling with their cousins.  The kids headed back to school and all the sports started back up.  We also kicked off a big home remodel and stayed a night at a hotel.

September

Shawn took the kids hunting over Labor Day weekend.  They had a blast.  We spent a lot of time at soccer and baseball games.  Shawn went with my family to the Cowboys/ Giants game.  Shawn and Tommy took the girls camping for a night.  We finished up our remodel.

October

Emily turned 9 this month and we celebrated with an ice skating party with friends. Shawn was watch dog at school one day.  We trick or treated with friends.

November

Emily got to camp out at the zoo with girl scouts.  We stayed the night at the Gaylord Texan and celebrated Thanksgiving.  We wrapped up all the sports and went to a Texas Tech Football game.

December

Buddy, our elf, made his return at the beginning of the month.  I took Evan to see Elf, the musical while Em got to go to Great Wolf Lodge twice!  We went to the Dallas Zoo and celebrated Christmas and surprised the kids with a ski trip.

It was a pretty great year!  We've already got some fun stuff planned with 2019, so I'm looking forward to it!

December Little Things

December was a super busy month as it always is.  We try to pack in as many holiday activities as we can.  In addition to all the fun holiday activities, we had lots of other fun things going on this month too!

Emily kicked off December with a super fun weekend!  She was invited to a friend's birthday party at Great Wolf Lodge.  This was her first time to go and she had a blast.

Later that weekend she went to another friend's birthday party at a roller rink.  She started on skates that had 4 wheels, but declared that too hard, so she switched to inline skates.

She wrapped up that weekend at a fun girl scout outing at La Madeline.

Of course we had some fun with Buddy, the elf.  He didn't do too many crazy things this year, but here were just a few of the spots we found him in.

Shawn and the kids put up Christmas lights in the front yard and when they were done, they found a lizard in the back yard.

We were so busy this month, that one afternoon, Evan and I just had to snuggle up on the couch for a nap.

One of my friends ate lunch with her daughter and sent me this picture of these sweet friends.

Shawn caught Evan getting his cereal down one morning.  The only shelf that's tall enough to fit the cereal boxes is the top one, but Evan is super resourceful and able to help himself every morning.

We met some neighbor friends for pizza on the Friday before Christmas break.  Everyone ended up over at our house afterwards.  I woke up to the house being a disaster!

Evan got the blower out and blew all the leaves over into one corner of the yard.  The kids had a blast jumping into it.

A few days after Christmas, Emily got another treat.  She was asked to go to Great Wolf Lodge yet again, but this time with one of her besties, Aubrey.  We knew Evan would be super bummed that she got to go again, so we planned a special treat for him too. . he spent the night at KK's.  He had no idea Em even went again.  :)

Whew, what a month!  Things will be much slower in January!
