Christmas Outings

We always try to do several Christmas activities during the month of December and this year was no exception.  I always try to find at least 1 new activity that we've never done before.  We actually kicked off our Christmas activities last month when we went to the Gaylord, but we've continued right into December.

The first Saturday of December, Evan, Mimi and I went to see Elf, the musical in Fair Park.  Originally I had bought tickets for all 4 of us to go, but then Emily got invited to a friends bday party at Great Wolf Lodge so she was out, and Shawn needed to be home for whenever Emily got home from the party.  So with that said, we asked Mimi if she wanted to join Evan and I.  It was super cute.  Evan seemed to enjoy it, but he probably would have enjoyed it more if it was about 30 min. shorter.  It was 2.5 hours with an intermission, so that's a lot of sitting for a 6 year old.

The next weekend, KK took both kids to their annual breakfast with Santa.  The kids look forward to this event every year!  And while the kids were gone, Shawn and I got to enjoy a kid free lunch.  So win-win!

Another Saturday, we met up with our friends, The Terry's, to check out the Christmas Tree lighting at the Star.  The Star is where the Cowboys practice facility is located and there's a ton of restaurants and shopping.  They do a tree lighting / show every Friday and Sat. night in December.  This was our first time to go.  I thought it was a pretty good show.  The cheerleaders danced and they had fireworks.  It only lasted 20 minutes, but it's something I wouldn't mind seeing again next year.  After the tree lighting we went out to dinner.

The Saturday before Christmas we went to The Dallas Zoo lights with our friends, the Gists.  We went early to see all the animals and then stayed once they turned the lights on. It was neat and I'm glad we checked it out this year.  We all went to dinner afterwards.

We were supposed to go to Frisco Square with Kevin and Julie the Sunday before dinner, but they had to cancel on us.  So instead we made plans with them right after Christmas and we went to see Mary Poppins Returns and then dinner.
