Breckenridge, CO - Day 3

We woke up to clouds and much cooler weather on Wednesday morning.  Our outing this day was a mine tour at Country Boy Mine at 10:00, followed by panning for gold.  We walked into town for a quick breakfast and then headed out for our tour.  Evan was very excited for this activity.  He was interested in the tour, but couldn't wait for the panning for gold in the river.  He tried to tell us that we would need to stay until we found gold.  ha.

The mine tour was about an hour long and pretty interesting, but gosh it was cold and wet.  It dropped to the low 40's in the mine.  I was pretty happy when it was over and we got to come back outside.  They provided rain boots to put on for panning and Evan couldn't wait.  Evan looked for gold and other rocks for about an hour before we tore him away.  Emily looked for a little bit, but much preferred riding the tall slide over panning for gold.  I think Evan came home with some fools gold and maybe a couple of small gold flakes.  We definitely didn't strike it big.  Ha.

When we got back to town, we drove over to where the Breck Troll was.  He's a big troll that an artist designed and you could walk a short distance to find him.  He was pretty neat!

After a couple nights of not sleeping well, we all wet back to the condo and took a short power nap.  We all seemed to be a bit affected by the altitude.  Afterwards, we headed back out to the town and took the kids to the arcade located downstairs at Eric's.  We had seen it the day before and Evan was itching to go back to it.  We got each kid a card and Shawn and I got a drink and sat and watched while both kids played games.  Before we knew it, it was time for dinner and bed.
