One Month!

Dear Evan (my little man),

I can't believe you are already 1 month old!! The time is already flying by. I'm loving being a "boy mom" more than I ever imagined! It seems so long ago that I was pregnant with you and even longer that I was on bed rest. I have loved every minute of you being here. I'm soaking up all the snuggle time I can before I head back to work in a couple months.

You have been such a sweet baby. You typically don't cry much unless you are hungry. You also tend to grunt to let us know you're not happy. :) However, in the last week or so, you have started getting fussy after you eat, but other than that you have been such a content baby! We're wondering if you are following in your sister's footsteps with acid reflux. We'll be talking to the dr. about this at your appt. next Monday.

You love to be held and snuggle, which I don't mind a bit. You love taking naps in your swing too. You prefer to be upright more than being flat in your cradle (another sign I think you might have reflux). We're swaddling you at night to help you sleep. One of your favorite places is on your changing table. I know I will always get a happy boy if I put you on there. You are very alert, especially in the mornings! You tend to take your longest naps in the afternoon. You have a great appetite!! During the day, you average around 3 oz. of formula or 3.5 oz of breast milk every 3 hours . At night, you will tend to go between 3-4.5 hours. Although, Monday night you had a 5 hour stretch! No matter what, you are always wide awake and ready to start the day around 7:00 or 7:30.

You are still a little guy, in my mind. You are wearing newborn clothes and newborn diapers. You are starting to take a pacifier pretty well, however, you aren't dependent on it though. Your neck is getting really strong and we've been spending time each day doing tummy time. You don't love it, but usually will cooperate. In the last week or so, you've started to become much more aware of your surroundings. You love to look at fans and lights. You also love to look at the mobile on your swing. You rolled from your tummy to your back once. I think it was a fluke, but either way, you did it! You've smiled a few times, although I know it wasn't intentional. I can't wait for them to be though. I'm pretty sure you have a dimple in your right cheek, but I need more smiles to confirm. You've started losing your hair this week (from the front). I'm anxious to see if it comes back in lighter like your sister's did.

Your sister loves you so much! She comes right to you as soon as she gets home from school each day. If you are fussy, she wants so badly to make you feel better. She is constantly bringing you toys, giving you kisses and bringing you your paci. You are lucky to have such a great big sister.

Since I was at home so much while on bed rest, I've loved getting out and about with you.  We've had lots of outings already.  We've been to Target several times, the mall, Aunt Ann's house, KK's house, Mimi and Papa's house, dance class, hospital for 2nd PKU screen, Old Navy, Kaboom town, the farmer's market, Matito's (our first dining out experience as a family of 4), the Allen outlets, Buy Buy Baby and Marble Slab.  Overall, you do really well in the car.  You usually take good naps in your car seat.  Both Mommy and Daddy are much more relaxed with you then we were with your sister when she was a newborn.  I guess that's what happens with the second baby.

Mommy and Daddy love you so much!  We've loved every minute of the last month and can't wait to see how much you grow over the next few.
