Disney Cruise Vacation Day 5 - Tortola

After a couple days at sea, we were all ready to have a day in port.  Our first stop was Tortola.  Instead of doing a Disney sponsored excursion, we headed out on our own and booked a 3rd party excursion through Adventure Charters BVI from 9:00-4:00.  The plan was to take a taxi to the north end of the island and then get on the catamaran and make a couple of beach/snorkel stops.  Lunch and drinks were included on our tour as well.  We lucked out and there were only 2 other families on the catamaran besides us.  I think it would have felt a bit crowded if there had been any more.

At one point, a dolphin started jumping alongside the boat.  It was a highlight of the trip for sure.

The kids did great at our first stop and really enjoyed snorkeling. We snorkeled our way to the beach and hung out for just a bit before making our way back to the boat.

These were the hot seats that all the kids wanted on the boat!

Our second stop of the day was at Jost Van Dyke.  This was such a pretty beach!  We stopped a bit farther out here and they used the dinghy to get us to the beach.  We spent about an hour and a half here. It was home to a bar called The Soggy Dollar.

Look how clear the water was!  Definitely the prettiest beach we visited during the trip.

After our Jost Van Dyke stop, we all got back on the boat and had lunch.  They grilled out hamburgers and had several pasta salads for us too.  It was after lunch that poor Em started feeling sea sick.  She threw up 3 times.  :(  The girl running the excursion couldn't have been nicer and did so much to help Em feel better.  She ended up sleeping the majority of the trip back to the shore.

This little guy fell asleep too, but luckily it wasn't because he felt sick.
Thankfully, after reaching solid ground Em was as good as new.  She never felt sick again.

Back on the boat enjoying some Mickey rice krispie treats.

This night was pirate night.  We decided to skip the usual show and instead took our time getting ready before heading to the pirate show on the pool deck.

We were back in animator's palate for dinner this night.

After dinner, they had fireworks up on the top deck.  Shawn and Grant took the big girls while me and Courtney hung back with Evan and Caitlyn and watched them from our balcony.

It was a long day today with our all excursion and pirate night.  We all ended up a bit sunburned, but it was fun doing something we had never done with the kids before.  Our next stop was St. Thomas!
