When Emily turned 5, she started asking about getting her ears pierced. I had told her that I was fine with her getting them done anytime since she had turned 5. She just needed to tell me when she was ready. In the end she decided she was too scared to do it, but a month or so ago she told me she was ready. She can't wear earrings while playing soccer, so I told her if she was going to do it, she had to do it during the break between soccer seasons so she had at least 6-8 weeks to keep the earrings in.
We went over to the mall first thing Monday morning and I had the lady walk her through exactly what she would do. I told her if she was too scared, she didn't have to do it and she could wait until she was older. But she insisted she was ready and wanted them done. Unfortunately, there was only 1 lady working, so she had to do 1 ear at a time. It would have been so much better if she could have gotten them done at the same time! The first one wasn't too bad, but the anticipation of the 2nd one was tough on her! Still there were no tears and she was so excited once they were in. I can't stop looking at her now. She looks so much older with her ears pierced. As Shawn said when he got home from work. . next thing we know, she'll be getting married!
| She really wanted bigger and more colorful ones, but I convinced her these little ones were the perfect size for her ears. :) |
