I still can't believe it's already October. I feel like September just flew by and actually while I'm thinking about it, I feel like this entire year has flown by. This is a busy month for us! We have 8 family birthdays this month, but most importantly, it's Emily's birthday month. Party planning is in full swing.
It was such a beautiful weekend. Not a cloud in the sky and the temperature was just perfect. It finally feels like Fall. We spent lots of time outside enjoying her swing set. It's so convenient having a swing set right in our backyard and Emily loves it! She couldn't have gotten a better gift.
This picture makes me laugh. She looks like she's flying. She's really not as high as it looks. I took the picture from low on the ground.
Saturday, Emily and I went shopping with Mimi. We were able to get some new shoes for Emily along with some fall clothes. Today I decided it might be a good idea to try out her new shoes. She wore them all day today. She only pulled them off twice, which is definitely big progress!
Saturday, I also went and ordered Emily's cake and cupcakes for her birthday party. I can't wait to see how they turn out.
Saturday night, Papa Mike (Shawn's dad) came over to watch Emily while Shawn and I went to a wedding for a guy he works with. The wedding was so pretty. It was outside at a house that was right on Lake Lewisville. The weather was perfect for it. It didn't start until 6:30, so we didn't get to stay for the whole reception (it was still just getting underway when we left at 10), but everything was really nice. They even had fireworks while we ate dinner! When we got home and asked Papa Mike how Emily did, he said she slept the whole time! We left around 5:45 and we had fed her dinner and given her a bath before we left. We just thought this would be less for his dad to have to worry about. Usually Emily doesn't get a bath until right before bedtime. She seemed a little fussy when we were leaving, so we put her in her swing for a catnap. She usually does this every night around this time. Usually it's only for about 30 min. though. Well, I guess giving her a bath threw her off and she thought it was bedtime. She slept in her swing until 7:30 and Shawn's dad had to wake her up to take her upstairs to put her in her crib. I guess every time he would try to wake her up, she would cry, so he let her be. I was so worried she was going to be up at 4:00 this morning since she went to bed so early. But thankfully, she still slept until 6:30. I guess she was just worn out!
I had Papa Mike take a picture of us before we left.
Emily also had another big milestone this weekend. She said her first word (besides mama and dada). She can now say "ball."
