On Sunday night we went to our first Roughrider's game of the season. I love going to these games and we always try to make it to at least one game each year, if not more. The ballpark is down the street from us and the small ballpark makes for great seats no matter where you sit. Last year when we took both kids, we got grass seats so they could run around. Now that Evan's a little older, we took our chances with actual seats.
We had really high hopes going into the game and I think we probably set ourselves up for disappointment right there. We grabbed some hot dogs, fries and drinks right when we got there and went to sit down. Shawn got us tickets on a row with only 4 seats on it. There was also a walkway in front of us instead of people. We thought this was a great idea until we realized the bars in front of us were very far apart and Evan could just slip through to get to the walkway and make a run for it. After about 15 minutes of this, we gave up and moved to a long row that had no one sitting in it. We thought having seats directly in front of it, would "trap" Evan into sitting down. Nope, he just tried to sneak past us and had a blast throwing water bottles down several rows in front of us. We even tried having me sit on 1 end and Shawn sit about 8 seats down and letting him run in between us. But there was nothing we could do to make this boy happy outside of just letting him run free. So you know what, we decided it was time to go. And you want to know how long we made it at the baseball game. . . .1 and a half innings! That's it. :( And of those 1.5 innings I think I maybe saw a few pitches. So $140 (for tickets, parking and food) and about an hour later, we left.
I was so sad that it didn't work out. Evan is just such a different child than Emily was at this age. He's a runner and just doesn't want to sit still. Ever! I don't think we'll be trying any more baseball games this year. Maybe we'll give it another try when he's 3. :)

| I had to laugh at this pic. I obviously didn't know he was taking a pic. :) |
| Notice I have him trapped between my knees. Haha |
| Too many times running away and you're stuck sitting on Daddy's lap. |
| These are the bars he kept slipping through. I think this was the only minute the 2 of them were actually looking at the field. |
| And don't let me fool you. . .this one was in quite the mood herself. All she wanted to do was eat snacks. Could have cared less that we were there to watch baseball. |
