Walking Down the Aisle. . .As a Flower Girl

About a month ago, Shawn's brother and his fiance asked Emily if she would be a flower girl in their wedding.  Em had no idea what this meant, but she has been all about weddings lately, so I knew she would be excited just to get to attend one.  We pass a bridal store on the way to dance class every Saturday and she always makes me point it out.  She often talks about who she will marry, when she will get married, and what she'll wear.  So this was right up her alley!

We went to the rehearsal on Friday night and I was a little worried about whether Em would actually go through with walking down the aisle once she realized that's what she had to do.  But luckily she got to walk down with her 2 cousins, the ring bearer's, so that made her feel very comfortable.  It also helped that Daddy was the best man and was standing at the end of the aisle.  She did great during the rehearsal and I couldn't wait to see her walk down the next day.

The wedding was Saturday evening and we got to the church about 45 minutes before it started.  She had a blast playing with her cousins, while waiting for the ceremony to start.  Shawn and I tried to warn her that there would be a lot more people looking at her than there were at the rehearsal, but she didn't seem to mind one bit.  I brought her to the back of the church with just a few minutes to spare and then took my seat.  She did awesome!  She smiled and looked so pretty walking down.  She had to stand up on the alter for just a few minutes and then sat down next to me.  The hardest part for her was staying still during the ceremony.  She played with her dress, fidgeted a lot and said "I'm bored, Mommy" several times, but she made it through!  Shawn and I were so proud of how well she did!  After about 30-45 minutes of pictures, we headed over to the reception at the Southwest Flight Museum.  Em stayed back with Shawn so she could be announced with the rest of the wedding party.  We ate dinner and then she was off to the dance floor.  I'm not exaggerating when I say she was the life of the party.  She didn't leave the dance floor until I pulled her off around 10:00.  She had a blast dancing with Daddy, her Aunt Catherine, Papa Mike and her cousins, Ava and Sienna.  Often times she would be one of the only ones on the dance floor.  I did have to get on to her when she started doing cartwheels. . haha.  They aren't really appropriate when wearing a dress.  :)    We had so many people comment to us about how well she did and how much fun she was having.  I must say, watching her have so much fun made me have just that much more fun at the wedding.  She definitely was the life of the party!

They had a photo booth at the reception. . so fun!

Em is a lucky girl because she gets to do this all over again in August, when she'll be a flower girl in her Godfather's wedding.  I'm already looking forward to watching her walk down the aisle again!

And in case you were wondering where Evan was, he spent both nights at home.  My cousin, Katie, stayed with him on Friday night and Mimi and Papa stayed with him on Saturday night.  A big thanks to them for allowing the 3 of us to fully enjoy the wedding.
