Evan's Construction Birthday Party

It seemed only fitting that my little bulldozer have a construction theme party for his birthday this year.  I decided to have it at My Gym since he had such a blast at the weekly classes we took there. Since most of our friends don't have kids Evan's age, we invited just a few of our friend's kids, my nieces and then his class from school

The favors . .mini construction trucks, bubbles, m&m's and starburst.

It took Evan a little bit of time to warm up when we got there.  I'm convinced he's working on his 2 year old molars because he has just been unusually fussy lately!

Once he was in the gym, he had a great time.  He didn't really want to participate in the scheduled activities, but he never loved those when we took classes either.  He much prefers to just run around freely.

After lots of playtime we sang Happy Birthday and the kids had cupcakes and ice cream.  Evan threw a bit of a tantrum during cupcake time for no apparent reason.  He just wasn't having a great day.  I guess the saying goes, "it's my party and I'll cry if I want to."

Brennan, Em and Aubrey.  They all go to school together.  We let Em invite Aubrey so she would have a friend to play with and then Brennan came with his brother, Tristan who is in Evan's class.

Evan ran to give Grace a hug.

But it wasn't a good enough one for her and she held on as he ran away. haha

Little Monkeys.

Lauren and Nattie

Grace had the motions down during the warm up.

Evan just wanted to sit with Daddy.

More hanging.  Em loves the bars at gym, so it was no surprise she spent a lot of time on them at the party.

Evan did not want to do the zip line, but I made him go once.

He had this look of terror on his face the whole time.

Em LOVED it and got Shawn thinking about how he could build a zipline in our backyard.  Haha

Evan and his crush, Aubrey.  :)

The big girls got to do the zipline without the bucket.

I was worried my nieces might be a little too old for My Gym, but they ended up having a blast!  They came up with some creative ways to have fun.

Friends from school, Dani, Tristain and Madelyn.  They made their own ball pit.

Evan found these fish under a desk and wouldn't let go of them.

Listening to a story.

Waiting for Evan to make his entrance. . .

. . .only he wanted nothing to do with it.  They tried to get Evan to ride out on this motorcycle, but again he was not having it.

The whole group: Lauren, Nattie, Em, Brennan, Aubrey, Tristan, Grace, Avery, Madelyn, Dani and Evan.

Silly faces without the birthday boy.

Everyone sang Happy Birthday to Evan while he swung.

Blowing out the candles.

Time for cupcakes and ice cream.

After cupcakes, the kids got to play for a little longer.  Evan was done by this point and didn't want to go in the gym, but luckily the bubbles lured him back in.

Showing how he can walk the beam all by himself.

One of Evan's favorite friends from school, Dani.  Her and Evan's b-days are just days apart and have been together since the infant room.
Even though Evan had a few fussy moments, I was really pleased with how the party turned out.  I think Evan and all the kids really enjoyed themselves.  When we got home Em helped her brother open up all his fun presents.
