Evan's birthday surprises started the day before his birthday. On Wednesday, he found a surprise when he went outside. . .a new rock wall! Mimi and Papa had one added to our swing set. Evan noticed it immediately and spent some time trying to figure it out. He still needs some practice. He knows he needs to use the rocks to hold on, but doesn't realize he needs to use them for his feet too. So usually what happens is he just holds on and tries to scale the wall, which of course just ends in frustration. Em however, figured it out very quickly and has told me several times how much she loves it. She said it's way more fun than the ladder.

| Trying to figure out where this came from. |
| One side has the rocks closer together and the other side has them farther apart. Of course he always wants to go on the left side, which is the one where they are farther. His legs are still too short on that side. |
Since Evan's birthday fell on a Thursday, he went to school and we went to work just like normal. Of course Em and I did sing Happy Birthday to him several times before school. He has known for a while now that his birthday was coming up and he loved having all the attention on him. I also sent cookies to school for him and his friends to enjoy.
When we all got home we gave him a few presents to open. We started with the present that Em picked out. I knew this would be a winner with him!

| It's a new bubble machine! This boy loves bubbles and our last bubble machine broke. He was so excited about it and wanted us to open it right away. |
| But then me and Em brought out the present from Mommy and Daddy. |
| A new bike! Actually a balance bike that's just his size. |
| He still needs time to figure this out too, but quickly after seeing the bike he was back to the bubble machine. There wasn't going to be any gift that could compete with that thing. |
| This boy was in heaven! |
| He always has to carry something around in his hands. |
After lots of time playing in the bubbles, we ate dinner and then had cupcakes! Evan LOVED having us sing Happy Birthday to him. If you look at the pics below, he's actually moving back and forth. He was swaying and dancing while we were singing.

And even though it wasn't her birthday, I still had a get a pic of my sweet girl.
