Saturday morning I took Em to dance and Shawn kept Evan at home with him. This week was open house at dance which meant we got to go in and watch the girls the last 15 minutes of class. I was so excited. By the time we went in they had already finished up ballet and had moved on to tap. I could tell by watching that my girl loves to tap! She did very well in front of the parents. She continued to listen to her teacher and do all the right moves.
After class I took Em on a special Mommy/Daughter lunch date. She requested brunch at On the Border, so that's where we went. We both got the pancakes for lunch. We hit up Target after lunch to get stuff for Christmas cookies and then headed home.
Evan (and Shawn) were asleep when we got home, so I put Em down for a nap and took one myself. I forgot to mention that Evan decided to wake up at 5:30 Saturday morning. :( After nap, I got brave and decided to make Christmas cookies with both kids while Shawn laid on the couch upstairs. That was an adventure. Both kids started out really wanting to help, then Evan decided all he really wanted to do was be held, which is tough to do while making cookies! Em was a great helper and unwrapped all the hershey kisses for me. She helped roll 1 pan of cookie dough, but after that she was done and I was left to finish up myself.
| This is what Evan did while I made cookies. . .sigh. |
After the cookies were all baked, I decided to take the kids on a dinner date to Chick Fil A. Both kids did great during dinner. They did so well, I decided to drive over to Frisco Square to show them the lights. We were supposed to go see them with friends that night, but had to cancel since Shawn was sick. Normally, I prefer to walk around and see them, but we drove around instead. It was much easier with 2 kids and it was pretty chilly out too. Both kids loved seeing the lights at first, but then sitting in all the traffic got old quick. Before I knew it, both kids had fallen asleep, so we headed back home for baths and bed.
Sunday morning Shawn still wasn't feeling great, but got enough energy to take Em grocery shopping while me and Evan headed over to My Gym. As usual, Evan loved gym class and even participated in the zip line. He might have been signing "all done" the entire time, but hey, he did it. :)
After class we headed home and before too long, me and Em headed back out to go to Nattie's 6th birthday party. Em had a blast! After the party, we headed home to pick Evan up and went over to my cousin's house to celebrate her daughter's confirmation.
It was a busy weekend!
