Eighteen Months

Evan,

You're 1 1/2 little man!  Wow!  You're getting to be so big now!  You are definitely not a baby anymore.

This past month has been a busy one.  We celebrated your second Thanksgiving over at KK's and you loved all the food!  I think you ate more meat on Thanksgiving than you have in a long time!  We visited Santa this month and while I was expecting tears, there were none!

You're still a picky eater.  You love your fruits and veggies, but meat continues to still be hit or miss.  You love sweets though!  We gave you a sucker recently and now you consistently ask for that or other candy.  I think you may have gotten your Mama's sweet tooth.  :)  You are doing really well at feeding yourself with a fork and spoon.  You will still get frustrated occasionally, but overall, you're getting the hang of it.

This month you have started crying several mornings a week when I drop you off at daycare.  They say you cry in the late afternoon too when your regular teachers leave for the day.  I've noticed at home too that you want (and say) mama and dada a lot more often.  I'm thinking stranger danger is on the high side right now.  Although last gym class you did much better with the teachers.  You actually participated in the teacher led activities!  Yay!

You continue to be on the go at all times.  You are definitely all boy!  So different than your sister!  You love to crash your cars, climb on everything, and wrestle!!  You constantly antagonize your sister by taking things that she's playing with, grabbing her blanket or just laying on top of her.

Unfortunately, this month had a few low points.  You got your first fever blister.  :(  Daddy and I were so upset when we found out that you would be getting these too.  Luckily, it was very short-lived and nothing like what your sister normally has to deal with.  I'm hoping that's a good sign and means you won't get them often.  You also had strep throat for the first time ever.  We didn't even realize you had it, but we took your sister in to get checked and had them swab you too, just to make sure.  We were very surprised it was positive because you had not shown any signs of not feeling well!  You took your medicine like a champ and it was gone very quickly!

You're still a great sleeper!  We still read a story before bed and then rock for a little while.  You now point to the crib whenever you are ready to go to sleep.  There were a few days this month when you all you wanted to do was snuggle and would cry whenever I put you in your crib.  After a while I had to just let you cry it out, but now we're back to our normal routine.  I love that you will still snuggle in close and let me rock you a bit.  Your sister never let me do that at this age!  You are still very attached to your paci and lovey.  You want your paci at all times these days!  One day I'll get tough and we'll start working on weining you off it, but for now it keeps you happy.  And being the second child I'm just not really too worried about it.  Haha.

This month we discovered you are very afraid of the vacuum cleaner!  We can't vacuum when you are in the same room.  You dislike it so much, that you have found the vacuum at My Gym and constantly run over to make sure it hasn't moved.  You may or may not be getting a toy vacuum cleaner for Christmas.  I'm hoping that may curb your fear.  :)  This month we also found out that you love the attic!  Shawn took you up with him to get Christmas decorations and now anytime you pass by, you yell "attic."  I have to constantly tell you that we can't go play in it.

It's been a fun month and I know the next one will be even more exciting!  I can't wait to celebrate your second Christmas!  Love you little guy.  :)
