Hawaii Trip - Day 7 : Oahu Here We Come!

I was a little sad as we woke up on our last day in Maui.  It's a good thing our trip wasn't coming to an end though.  After packing up and grabbing 1 last breakfast in the lounge, we checked out and made our way to the Maui airport.  We had an 11:00 flight over to Oahu.  The flight was a quick one, only about 45 min gate to gate and as soon as I landed, I knew we weren't in Maui anymore.  Ha.  We got our rental car and made our way to the hotel, The Hilton Hawaiian Village.  Now I knew Honolulu was a city, but I definitely wasn't expecting it to be as big of a city as it was!  The traffic to get to our hotel was a bit crazy and the hotel itself, well, let's just say, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.  It was huge!  There were like 5 or 6 different towers and it was just so crowded.  The elevator situation. . .well, that's a whole other story.  Let's just say it was survival of the fittest to get into an elevator each day.  And thank goodness Shawn is a Hilton diamond member and we didn't have to wait in the normal check in line.  It was outrageous.  Luckily they had a room ready for us when we arrived.  The room was disappointing to say the least.  It just felt small and outdated.  Of course it didn't help that we just left an amazing hotel, but there was a lot left to be desired.  The only positive was that we did get upgraded to a lagoon view which was nice.

We walked around the resort and found a restaurant for lunch.  After some lunch, we walked over to the some of the shops right across the street before heading back upstairs.  Evan really wanted to paddle board, so he and Shawn headed down to the lagoon to rent one.  Em and I didn't really have any interest in swimming, so we hung out on our patio and watched Evan.   They checked out the beach at our hotel too, but Evan said it was really rocky and the water wasn't very clear.

That night we had dinner reservations at Duke's Waikiki.  We ended up grabbing an uber to just go a couple miles because trying to park in Honolulu looked like a nightmare.  We had a nice seat on the patio of the restaurant that overlooked the ocean.  After dinner, we walked around all the shops.  There was a ton of shopping.  The boys split up from us and Em and I made our way to where else, Lululemon.  Nothing screams Hawaii like buying something from a store we have back at home.  haha.  We got an uber back to the hotel, a Tesla, which may have been 1 of the highlights for Evan.  The driver was kind enough to show us all the tricks a Tesla can do.  When we got back, we walked around the hotel a little more.  It really is such a big hotel and we discovered more shops.
