We all slept in a little bit on Saturday before heading up to the lounge for some breakfast. We hit the beach/pool during the morning / early afternoon.
Late afternoon we got cleaned up and put on our warmer clothes to make the drive up to Haleakala Crater. I had read that watching the sunrise/ sunset was a must do. Since we had an early morning the day before, I opted for sunset instead. The drive up wasn't too bad. The road was definitely windy, but since it was daylight it wasn't scary. We got up to the summit around 6:30 and waited for the sunset, which was around 7:15. It was super cold up there. Me and the kids were in pants / sweatshirts and we still waited in the car until the sun went down. It was really neat to be way above the clouds and to see the sunset. Immediately after sunset, we headed back down and now that it was dark, it was a little scary going down the crater. I was glad when we finally reached the bottom!
