San Diego Trip - Day 1

We just got back from a 5 day trip to San Diego.  I can't tell you how many times I thought about cancelling, between covid concerns and the weather forecast showing rain and 40's / 50's all week.  But in the end I decided to just take our chances and I'm so glad we did.

We flew out late Monday morning and because of the time change arrived around 12:30 CA time.  After a quick pit stop at Shake Shack for lunch, we checked into our hotel.  We stayed 2 nights at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront.  We were on the top floor and had an awesome view of the bay.  It was a great location too.

After getting settled in, we took a walk along the bay and found Seaport village.  It was a cute little area with lots of shops.  The kids did almost all of their souvenir shopping on day 1. It was chilly, but the sunshine managed to peek out which made it much warmer.  I was so happy to see sun as I wasn't sure just how much of it we would see this trip.

For dinner this night we went to Bencotto in Little Italy.  It may have been my favorite restaurant of the whole trip.  The made from scratch pasta was delicious and the kids were super adventurous and tried both  calamari and octopus for an appetizer.  It was raining when we left, so we ended up calling it an early night, which was ok since our bodies were 2 hours ahead on Dallas time still.
