A Wedding in Cancun, Mexico

Last Thursday Shawn and I headed to Cancun for my cousin, Cathy's wedding.  This was our first trip to Mexico.

We stayed at the JW Marriott resort and spa.  It was a really nice place.  The only downside was that the ocean had a ton of seaweed in it.  I got in on Thursday, but didn't get in again at the resort.

Thursday night, my cousin and her fiance, hosted a welcome reception down on the beach.  We could see them setting it up from our room.

Friday morning we were up bright and early.  My cousin had rented a boat for all of us to take to Isla Mujeres.  Unfortunately, the rocking of the boat didn't sit too well with me and I spent a good portion of the day convincing myself I wouldn't get sea sick.  We got to snorkel and swim on the way to the island and once we were there, we had lunch and then got back on the boat to head back to Cancun.  It was a full day!  We were gone from 9-5.  Since I wasn't feeling well, no pics from the actual boat.

Saturday morning we woke up and headed down to the adult only pool.  I got a massage mid morning, but spent the rest of the day just lounging.  The wedding was that evening.

Poor Shawn had to leave the wedding early because he didn't feel well.  He spent most of Sunday in bed.  He was just one of many that got sick in our group.  :(  Somehow I was spared.  I spent most of Sunday lounging by the adult only pool again.  By dinner time, Shawn was feeling better and he joined the rest of my family at a Hibachi Grill at the hotel next door.

It was a fun trip, but after all the people that got sick, I'm not sure I'm going to be rushing back to Mexico anytime soon.
