Memorial Weekend

Saturday
Saturday morning I took Em to dance class as usual.  Both of us were excited though because she got her dance recital costume! After dance we ran by the dance store and then picked up some lunch before heading home.  After nap time, we headed to my parents house for a BBQ and some swimming.

This was kids first time in the pool this year, outside of swim lessons.  We pushed Em to swim without her floaties for quite a while, but once I got out of the pool and Shawn was occupied with Evan, we put her floaties on.  She still has a long way to go before I'm going to be comfortable with her swimming skills!  Evan did well wearing his floaties.  He still had to be held most of the time as he would lean forward too much and swallow water or wouldn't lean forward enough and would end up on his back.  But he LOVED the pool! He totally thought he could swim and had no fear what so ever.  He kept getting out of the pool and would walk around the edge and then walk right into the pool.  No jumping in the pool, just walked right in (very close to the edge), so we had to be on our guard at all times!  Both Em and Evan were fish and could have spent all day in the pool!

The best picture I could get of my little fish.

Who's really grilling??   Papa or Shawn?

Sunday
Sunday morning we all got up early and had breakfast at Fuzzy's Tacos.  Shawn and Em love their breakfast tacos!  We did a little grocery shopping too and then headed home.   We headed over to my cousin, Patti's, house to celebrate my cousin, Ryan's, high school graduation from St. Mark's and my cousin, Katie's, 8th grade graduation from Hockaday.  We couldn't stay too late though as it was naptime for the kids and after a full day of swimming the day before, we were all pretty wiped out.  All 4 of us took a long nap and woke up to some rain outside.  We waited for the rain to stop and then headed out to let the kids play in the backyard.  Em really wanted to do the slip and slide, but after all the rain, she settled for the water table and the pool.

Is it just me or does this picture make her look WAY too big?!

Who says you can't climb in the water table?

We made our very own water slide.

Em was a little hesitant, so she let her brother try it out first.  He was little shocked at how cold the water was and didn't want to do it again.

Once Em went down she couldn't get enough and went again and again and again!

Monday
We laid pretty low Monday morning.  Shawn went grocery shopping and then took Evan down to his brother's house to help him move a few things.  Me and Em stayed home and cleaned up the house and did laundry.

I tried really hard to get a cute pic of the kids in their red, white and blue.  Didn't work out so well.

Em has no problem posing for me.

This one on the other hand had no interest in staying still for a picture.

After a very long nap by the kids, we took them for a special treat. . .ice cream!  No holiday weekend in the summer is complete without a special treat!

When we got home from ice cream, I took Em to her second to last swim lesson.  Then it was time for dinner and bedtime!  It was a fun holiday weekend and I know none of us are looking forward to the upcoming week.

When I loaded my pics, I found these selfies Em must have taken on the way home from swim.  :)
