A Texas Tradition: Bluebonnet Pics

Every spring I look forward to taking pictures of the kids in the bluebonnets.  It's one of those Texas traditions you can't pass up.  The bluebonnets only come out for a limited time each spring.  I was so afraid I missed them this year, as the place we normally go had none.  We checked 2 weekends in a row and each time we didn't see any.  I was so disappointed thinking that it just wasn't meant to be.  I ended up asking a few friends if they had seen any and was told about some in Grapevine.  We just happened to have plans in Grapevine Sunday morning, so I made Shawn take a detour to see if there were still any bluebonnets out there.  We were in luck!  We found a field that had a ton.  I was so excited.  The kids were too.  All they wanted to do was run around in them, which doesn't really make for the best pictures.  I was able to get Em to pose for some, but Evan was pretty much a lost cause.  So most of his pictures ended up being action shots.

The only year I didn't take pictures of the kids was Em's very first spring.  Once I thought about doing it, it was too late.  But every year since then, we have taken them.  I love looking back to see how much the kids have grown.  We'll see how many more years the kids will agree to taking bluebonnet pictures for me.  :)
