Evan,
How is it possible you're 1 year old today? I won't lie and say that I'm happy about it. I'd love more than anything for you to stay little forever. I know it's only a matter of time that you will still snuggle and rock with me and I want to savor it while I can.
Lots has changed this month. The biggest change is that you are a walking machine! You started taking several steps right when you turned 11 months and you haven't looked back. You've gotten really good at keeping your balance and can walk, stop and pick something up, stand up and walk some more, all without falling down. You can also change directions when you're walking too. I think you love your new found freedom! And I love watching you toddle around. :) Emily loves cheering for you each and every time she sees you walking. I think she might be giving you a bit of a big head. . haha. You've gotten quite brave with your walking. . a little more than I'd like you to be. You love walking back and forth in the bathtub, climbing out of the bathtub, and this past weekend, walking around in the little kiddie pool. Also, this month you can go from sitting to standing without holding on.
You are completely out of your infant car seat. Shawn changed the seat in his car to a convertible seat.
You are still into everything. You love to pull tissues out of the tissue box, unroll toilet paper and open cabinent doors! If you can open it, you think it's yours. There are times I will catch you in the kitchen cabinents and you're swinging around a glass dish. Needless to say, the cabinet locks have started going on. You still love to rearrange our house and if you can get it to move, you push it and move it. It doesn't matter what it is.
You are still a snuggler and I love it. I feed you your bottle in your room before bed and you'll snuggle and let me rock with you as long as I want. You won't fall asleep now, but are just perfectly content. You love crawling up into my lap, especially if you see your sister in my lap. . haha. I'm soaking up as many snuggles as I can!
Food continues to be one of your favorite things each day. :) You have a very big appetite! As soon as you see your Daddy or I go into the kitchen, you're right behind us. If you see food, you start screaming until we give you some. For the most part, you're not real picky, however, I'd say fruit is still one your favorites. This month, I tried giving you your formula in a sippy cup before bed. The first night you did great, the second night just ok, and the third night you didn't drink much at all, which resulted in you waking up in the middle of the night. That was the last night we did that. Haha. We have also tried giving you milk in a sippy cup during lunchtime and you seemed to really like it. So hopefully you'll transition to milk easily.
We've definitely discovered what some of your favorites are this month. You love playing with your sister's kitchen. You open all the doors, take out the kitchen sink and dump all the food onto the floor. This happens daily. You also love swinging outside. You just lounge back in the swing and I'm pretty sure you could do this for hours. There are often times that you cry when we try to take you inside. You still love bathtime. Daddy's in charge of bathtime and I always hear lots of giggles coming from the bathroom. You have discovered that you can see yourself in the faucet of the tub and will scrunch down and just smile and laugh at yourself. And of course, it's a game now to try and climb out of the tub. Your love of bathtime has carried over to your love of the swimming pool. We've taken you swimming twice now and each time you have just loved it! You enjoy playing peek-a-boo and will initiate it on your own.
At school, they have transitioned you down to just 1 nap a day (you still get 2 at home on the weekends). As a result, you are usually pretty tired at night. We have moved your bedtime routine to be closer to 7:00 which means you're usually in bed close to 7:15 -7:30. Also, you have started sleeping in a bit more. There were several times this month where I had to wake you up at 6:40 for school. I'm hoping this continues!!
Little Man, it's been quite a year! I love you, my blue-eyed boy!
