Christmas - Round 1

Last Saturday, after the breakfast with Santa, we drove over to Shawn's mom's house in Burleson.  Our plan was to let Em nap over there before everyone else arrived early afternoon.  Of course Em had plans of her own.  I layed down with her for an hour and the entire time she was either talking to me or singing to me.  I tried the pack and play and also just laying her in the bed next to me.  When she was in the bed with me, I kept closing my eyes, thinking she would close hers.  Nope, she would just put her face 2 inches from mine and stare at me until I opened my eyes.  So needless to say, there was no nap (for either of us).  I guess she was too excited about opening presents?

Everyone started arriving around 3:00 and we ate dinner and then opened presents.  It was a full house - Shawn's parents, Shawn's brother and his family,  his 2 stepsisters and their families, and his Grandma.  The only one missing was his step brother and his kids.  Emily wasn't really interested in opening presents.  She just opened 2 and then went off by herself to another room.  Maybe it was too much chaos for her?  So I just opened the rest of her gifts and showed them to her later.  I'm hoping she's more interested come Christmas day or we're in for a long day of me unwrapping her gifts.

Overall, we had a nice time visiting with everyone and Em did quite well considering she had no nap.  She did crash in the car when we left around 8:30.  And Shawn and I both crashed as soon as we got home.  So while it was fun, it was a long day where we left at 8:00 that morning and didn't get home until 9:30 that night!

I realized the next day, that I had actually taken very little pictures while we were there.  Just a few of Em before everyone arrived.  Sometimes it's just more of a hassle to take pictures, but I'll try and be better when Christmas Day comes.

When you ask her to smile for the camera, this is the pretty smile you get.  :)

There's a big turtle in his mom's backyard and Emily likes to sit on it.
