We've always wondered just how well Evan slept at night. He snores and is just all over his bed. So we took him to an ENT and she told us that his tonsils were quite large. She said if we'd like to take them out, she would be willing. After much discussion, we decided it might be best for him.
Evan was pretty nervous leading up to the surgery, but did so well the day of. He couldn't eat after midnight, but luckily he was scheduled for the first surgery of the day. We had to be at the surgery center at 6 am and they took him back around 8. They gave him some silly juice to calm him down beforehand and he was cracking us up!
After the surgery, he did awesome! I was preparing for him to wake up crying and upset from the anesthesia, just like Em had. But he didn't. He was so calm and even the nurse said how great he did and what an easy patient he was.
After about an hour after waking up, he asked when we could go home and the nurse said, if he's asking that, then he's ready, so we were home by around 9:30!
He did really well the first 2 days. You wouldn't really know he had surgery. But by day 3, the pain started kicking in a little bit. I just kept him on his meds around the clock and we made him drink tons of water - even woke him up every 2 hours at night to have him drink.
It was a long 2 weeks of soft foods and no activity. It's a bit too early to see the full results of the surgery, as his throat was swollen for a bit and then we went on a trip and he was all out of his routine. I will say that he now sleeps soo quietly! I'm hoping he will now get a much better night's sleep!
