I originally wanted to book the trip for over Christmas break or Fall break, but both of those dates were super expensive. So we settled on a trip over summer break instead. We invited KK to come with us since she had never been to NYC before.
We flew out early Sunday morning (8:10 am), so this way we had a good chunk of the day to explore the city. When we arrived we hit the ground running! We took a cab to our hotel (Hilton Times Square) and dropped our bags off before hitting up some of the sights right away.
A few things we quickly realized. . .1. It was HOT! Even though it wasn't as hot as Texas, the humidity made it feel just as hot. 2. While we're glad we stayed in Times Square since it was the kids first time in the city, it was not something we'd ever do again. It was just such a crowded area! 3. We were going to be walking a ton. We did take the subway quite a bit, but even doing that, it's a lot of walking. While I felt like Em was the absolute perfect age, I think Evan probably needed to be a year or 2 older. It was a lot of walking for his little legs.
Now back to our day. We started our day in Rockefeller Center. We hit up FAO Schwarz and St. Patrick's Cathedral before going to the Top of the Rock to get some awesome views of the city.
We made a quick pit stop back at our hotel to check into our room before heading back out to go to Grand Central Station. We had dinner reservations at Serendipity that night. Both kids loved the huge desserts!
We headed back towards our hotel after dinner. Evan was pretty tired after our long day, so he and Shawn headed back to the room, while Em, KK and I walked down to Times Square. It was crazy packed, but just something you have to see!
