Emily woke up with one less tooth yesterday morning! It came out sometime while she was sleeping. We haven't been able to find it, so we're wondering if she might have swallowed it during the night.
She has been anxiously awaiting losing her teeth. So many of her friends have lost some and she didn't understand why it was taking so long for hers. When she went to the dentist just over 6 months ago, the dentist said she would probably lose one before her next visit. Well fast forward to her next visit over Christmas break and let's just say she wasn't too happy with the dentist. After all, he said she would lose one. During her checkup, they discovered that she did have 1 loose tooth. So surely it wouldn't be too long by now.
Fast forward a week or so and it was getting looser by the day. Yesterday she came home from school and it was literally hanging by a thread. I did everything I could to convince her to let me pull it, but she was too scared. She was hoping to lose it at school because they get to go to the nurse and get a special tooth box necklace to put their tooth in. Of course, selfishly I wanted her to lose her first one at home, so I could see it. She went to sleep that night and I assumed it would fall out at school the next day. We were all surprised when she woke up and it was gone.
That night Em put out her tooth fairy pillow and hoped the tooth fairy might still leave some money even though she didn't have the tooth. Luckily for Emily, the tooth fairy must have still known she lost it and she left her $5. She came running out of her room this morning so excited about her money!
I'm still getting used to her new smile. She seems so much older to me with her new grin. I'm sure it won't be too long before she's losing more.
