Weekend Recap

Shawn came home on Friday night and both Emily and I were excited to see him.  Originally, Shawn thought he might be home early enough to pick her up from school, but then he got delayed a bit, so I ended up picking her up.  In hindsight, I'm glad I got there first.  Emily's diaper leaked at school so they had to put her in one of her backup outfits.  Apparently, I haven't updated her clothes in a while (to be honest, I had no clue what clothes she had there, it had been so long that I looked at them) and I guess she had outgrown them.  Since there were no other options, this is the outfit I found her in when I picked her up from school.

So not only were they too small, but she only had winter clothes (they just pushed the sleeves up).  Her teacher told me they were calling her Britney Spears because her belly showed in this shirt.  I'm sure this is just another one of the many "mommy fails" to come.  It was not my finest moment.  But you'll be glad to know she is being sent with new spring/summer backup clothes come Monday.

Saturday morning, Emily and I went to our last Little Gym class of the semester.  We've decided not to continue in the summertime.  We'll re-evaluate in the fall, but for now we just needed a bit of a break.  After Little Gym, we ran a few errands and we got Emily some new tennis shoes along with new dining room furniture (Woohoo!).  This is the last room in our house that needed furniture, so I'm excited to finally have that checked off.  We got it from Haverty's and it should be delivered next Saturday.  It's more formal than I originally had wanted, but overall, I'm happy with it!  And since it was such a nice day we spent some time playing outside too.

And finally this morning, we headed off to the Dallas Zoo.  Since we're season pass members, we decided to head over there for a few hours and visit the areas we missed on the first trip.  We got there right when it opened and we pretty much had the park to ourselves for the first hour or so.  We hit the gorilla trail, took a ride on the monorail, and ended up the morning with a ride on the carousel (probably Emily's favorite part).  She loved running around the park and seeing the animals.  I'm sure we'll go a few more times before the year is up.  I didn't take my camera with us this time, but I did snap a picture on my phone while she was riding the carousel.

We only stayed at the zoo a couple hours before coming home so we could eat lunch and Emily could go down for her nap.  Apparently, Emily didn't have a good nap because she was not in a good mood this afternoon.  She was just so fussy and un-cooperative.  So much so that she had her first time out.  She was just tearing up each room she went into and just refused to help pick her toys.  After her doing this for a couple of hours, I had enough and off to time out she went.  Of course she screamed the entire minute she was in time out, but she did sit still.  I'm hoping time out doesn't become a common occurence from now on.  Luckily she did end the night in a better mood.  And just so I remember this. . . lately she's become quite good at stalling before bedtime.  Tonight she kissed every one of her dolls and animals (and even chairs) that were in her dollhouse before going to bed.

With the exception of this afternoon, we all had a nice weekend.  Now that Shawn's back in town for a while, I think we're all looking forward to just getting back into our normal routine.
