Thursday we drove down to Key West to explore and also visit with my cousin, Nikki. We met Nikki and her boyfriend, Darragh, for lunch at The Waterfront Brewery. It was a perfect spot. It was right on the water and also had arcade games for the kids to play while we ate and chatted.
After lunch we walked along the water for a bit before Nikki and Darragh pointed us towards Duvall Street. The kids wanted to stop in some of the shops as we walked towards the most southern point of the US. We walked for what felt like miles in very HOT temps, but we finally made it to the southern most point. There was a huge line to take a picture of the sign, but with how hot and sweaty we were there was no way we were waiting.
We made the drive back to Key Largo and stopped for dinner at C&C Wood Fired Eats. The restaurant was full inside, so we sat outside. The atmosphere inside looked really nice, so I was bummed the wait for a table was so long, but the food was still really good. After dinner we stopped for some ice cream before heading back to the hotel.
Thursday we had a late flight out. We spent the morning at the beach before checking out of our hotel. We stopped for lunch at the Fish House. Shawn needed a little more seafood before heading home. Then we made the trek back north. Since we had so much time to kill before our flight we made a pit stop in Miami and drove around a bit to explore. Then made the short drive up to Fort Lauderdale for our flight home.
Overall, I really enjoyed our trip, but if we ever went back, I'd do a little more planning in regards to activities. While it was nice just relaxing, I feel like we probably missed out on some fun things because I just didn't do enough planning.
