I swear I was just writing your eighteen month post! This is officially your last month in the teens. Crazy!
As a result of all your daredevil tricks, we had to start time out this month. It's been pretty effective, for the most part. I see lots more time outs in your future, Bud! I call you a 1 man wrecking crew. You can destroy a room in seconds. And I'm not talking about just getting out a ton of toys to play with. I mean you go into a room and survey it to figure out how quickly you can throw everything in that room on the floor. As I'm cleaning up 1 room, you can destroy another. Let's just say, we've learned it's best to just keep all doors shut in our house to limit where you have access!
Each month you continue to grow so much developmentally and this month was no exception. You say and recognize all your colors. You now recognize and will say some names of family members (ie. Mimi and Papa Mike). There are times where you will say Mommy and Daddy instead of Mama and Dada. You also sometimes let us know when your diaper is dirty by pulling on it. Only recently has a dirty diaper started to bother you at all.
You still continue to be a picky eater. Fruits and veggies are your favorites, while meat continues to be a hit or miss. I feel like your appetite has been decreasing lately. Many nights a week, you won't finish your entire meal. You do love all sweets and will often point to the candy when we ask you what snack you want.
You are still a great sleeper. I think all your energy during the day just wears you out. You continue to nap once a day for about 2 hours and then go down to bed around 7:30. I usually have to wake you up for school during the week and on weekends you usually will sleep until around 7:00. I'm sad to say our rocking days are most likely over. After we read a story, you immediately point to your crib and say night night. This makes for a sad mama!
You are still so dependent on your lovey and paci. You even know what drawer we keep the extra paci's in and if you can't find yours, you will open that drawer and fuss until we get another one for you. I just keep telling myself that I've never seen a Kindergartner with a paci. Haha.
You are still extremely scared of the vacuum. I think this might be your only fear! You know where we keep it in the house and everyday you point to the room it's in and say your word for vacuum (I can't even spell what he says. . haha). We constantly tell you that the vacuum is sleeping and won't be coming out. At my gym you have found the vacuum and run over to it several times during class to make sure it hasn't moved.
You started one bad habit this month - hitting. I'm not sure you do it to be mean, instead I think you do it more playfully, however, we're trying to nip this in the butt quickly.
It's been a fun month, Bud! Love you!
