A Day in the Life

I haven't done one of these posts in forever so I decided it was time for another one.  I captured our day on Monday of this week.  Obviously a big portion of our weekdays are spent at school/work, so this just shows our mornings and nights.

5:30 am - Shawn and I roll out of bed and start getting ready.  I still set my clock to read 10 minutes ahead (5:40).  Makes me feel like I'm getting 10 minutes extra of sleep.

6:15 am - Shawn is usually out the door and I'm on my own. I finish getting ready.

6:30 am - I wake up Em if she hasn't already woken up.  It's usually about 50/50 now on whether she's downstairs watching TV at this time or still in bed.  On this day, I find her downstairs watching TV.  We head upstairs and she gets dressed and I brush her teeth and do her hair.  We lay out all clothes the night before to help us move more quickly in the morning!

6:40 am - I wake Evan up and get him dressed and downstairs.  He's almost always asleep when I go in his room, but wakes up easily.

6:50 am - I pack my lunch, get all our bags ready to go while both kids are having a snack - usually a nutri-grain bar.  We pay to have school feed them breakfast, but they both usually need a little something to hold them over until we get to school.

7:00-7:15 am - My goal is to always leave the house by 7:00, but sometimes it can be as late as 7:15 before we actually leave.

7:30 am - I drop the kids off at school and head to work (2 hours after I've been awake!).

5:00 pm - Shawn picks the kids up from school and I'm just leaving work.

5:45 pm - I'm usually walking in the door around this time.  The kids always greet me at the door, but usually it's just because they want their blankys/loveys/paci's that they left in my car that morning.  Haha. 

6:00 pm - Shawn starts cooking dinner while I play with the kids.  Usually we go upstairs so that Evan won't get in Shawn's way in the kitchen.  (As soon as Evan sees food, he thinks it's time to eat).

Em was too busy watching a movie on my phone to look up.

6:30 pm - Dinner time!  Tonight it's tacos on the menu.

6:45 - 7:00 pm - Dishes and cleaning up.  Usually I do the dishes and pick up the house while Shawn plays with the kiddos.  But tonight, I ate slow and Shawn did the dishes.  :)  We also call this the witching hour.  The time between dinner and baths is when the kids always go crazy!!

His new favorite thing to do is move the chair in the middle of the doorway and just stand there.  Crazy kid!

She was glued to the movie.  Normally we don't let her watch movies at this time, but I found Frozen on a website and I couldn't help but let her watch.

Now it's time to wrestle!

7:15 pm - Time to head upstairs for baths.  Shawn gives both kids a bath while I get clothes laid out for the next day and get their rooms all ready for bed (night lights on, humidifiers on, pj's out, music on).

7:30 pm - I get Evan dressed in his pj's while Shawn gets Em in her pj's.  I read Evan a bedtime story and then he goes to bed.

7:30 - 8:15 pm - Em usually has quiet time and watches a movie or plays on the ipad.  Sometimes though she asks to do something fun that Evan can't do (a craft, light brite, etc).  Usually either Shawn or I will sit with her while the other one is doing other things.

8:15 pm - Me and Em head upstairs and she brushes teeth, goes potty and then we read a bedtime story.

Please disregard the Halloween jammies that are still being worn.  :)

8:30 pm - All the kids are in bed and Shawn and I finally have some free time.  Usually we'll watch tv or I'll blog or do stuff around the house.  However, tonight I wasn't feeling great and actually went to bed right after I put Em to bed.

Except for Wednesdays when Em has gymnastics at night, this is a very typical weekday for us.  Usually they are pretty uneventful and boring.   However, I still love writing down our schedule because at one point we'll probably wish our weekdays were this boring.
